Thats what I initially thought. However, the point that Moyes is trying to restore Anichebe's confidence does make sense as he would be receiving Donovan's playing time in the very likely case Donovan returns to LA. Its a long-term move that I can't argue with it.

I just cant see Mr. Moyes thanking Donovan for his classy loan spell with the bench...

my god, arteta is playing like a god today.

He's not looked much like himself since he's been back, but I think that 45 puts to rest any worries about regaining his form of the back of last season.

utterly imperious.

he remains the very best of what we have.

He's like a new signing.

The cross to Arteta was real nice...

I'm sure you are the first person to actualy mention that in among all the whinging cause he missed a penalty.

Overall we've played well and deserve the lead but they had their chances to be level, just hope they don't take a leaf out of our book and step it up for the second half.

i cant beleive some of the quotes over the past 10 pages.
theres not been much to be negative about imo.

arteta has been ace.
heitinga is putting in a great midfeild enforcer shift.
the defence look like they dont have to get out of first gear there that comfortable.
we are winning most of the midfeild battles and we are getting a good few chances.
our passing and movement is very good today aswell.

other than the first 5 minutes , a very good equalising goal and yaks poor penalty (which wasnt a penalty anyway) we have been quite good.

I think the defence are thinking about their Sunday roast than the game IMO. Neville has been caught out a lot, fallen asleep. Distin is being Distin and Jags has a rusty ring (haha). Baines looks lively but they aint hit his wing yet.

Most of us forgot about the cross as soon as the penalty was missed. It was a nice cross, but penalties should be gimmes for Premiership strikers. Period. I don't know what else to say.

my thought is, Donovan has 1 more game at EFC. Why not slowly incorporate other people back into the lineup. Restore some of their confidence and so it's not such a shock when we lose his pace.

And it doesn't hurt to rest Donovan, he's fit, but i bet he hasn't played this hard, and at this pace for so long.

if anything, he gets on with 2-3 minutes left to get a last welcome at home.
