Ronald Koeman discussion

He's only been here for 6 months, and already people are calling for him to get the sack..

Deary me.

Where did it all go wrong?

Remember when Moyes finished 17th in his second season? Imagine if we sacked him there and then, where would we be?

Probably still nowhere without a cup mate. Although the chances of winning a cup would have been higher in those 11 years.

That's not what I asked though, that was a handy tip to help you come up with something different, but ok.

Blinkered to the truth pinning your hopes on the transfer window, fair enough, I still think he should be doing better with what he has, improvements needed all round, everyone, top to bottom.

Im not blinkered mate, I just understand the issues within the squad.

An unbalanced squad full of rubbish players.

He brought in 4 players over the summer and we have improved, so I think we should bring more players in and then see if we improve further.

Arouna Kone was brought on yesterday, to turn a game, in 2017.

Think about that.

Cup performances have been unacceptable

League position is acceptable in the context of our summer transfer failings and there being six clearly stronger squads in the league than us and el fraudo's two consecutive bottom half finishes which preceeded this season

Performances haven't been great on the whole

Feels like Koeman thinks he needs to buy his way out of this as he doesn't rate the team he has. I tend to agree but means patience will be required. He'll get this as long as the league position is acceptable in the meantime

He isn't asking for much in all fairness - just wants the deals that were identified months ago wrapped up.

So Koeman is a whole 3 points better of than Martinez in week 20 of the league, Koeman is +5 GD Martinez was +7

Martinez would go onto two semi finals and Koeman has seen us knocked out of both comps

Before Bolaise was injured he had 4 players in the starting eleven that he signed, Yet the football and results have hardly improved

We're 7th as there are 6 teams with much better squads than us above us - which means we're currently "best of the rest". With this squad of players, I think that's fair enough. What are you expecting? Top 4?

3 whole points better of than last season at this point

Great

He's been here six months. Four months into the season.

Martinez got two years of being crap.

Moyes got about four.

We picked up only 17 in RM's last 18 games tho. I dare say we'll do better this time.

Yeah, if that trophy was the championship maybe. No one was winning anything meaningful with a negative net spend in those years. Moyes was probably the only reason that outside of the moneyed 6, every other premier league club has been relegated whilst we still remain as 'best of the rest'. Moyes is the reason we hadn't disappeared down the financial black hole by the time Moshiri did come along to invest us. Without Moyes all these notions of dockside stadium, director of football, joining the elite, new Lukaku contract, Schneiderlin Depay etc wouldn't even exist. Honestly in my opinion there could have been no better manager for us during that period of time than David Moyes.
