I think that's harsh and is partly based on the fact that you didn't want him here.
For me, I'm somewhere between a six and a seven, so will settle for 6.5. If we were consistently playing better footie and we were sat in seventh I'd have given him a solid seven.
no, im pretty reasonable and am fully behind giving any manager a chance but I do think the performances have been very very poor.
It's that more than anything really.
I guess 640mil on Bolasie also affects it.
I personally am quietly content with where Everton are at the moment. 7th place in the league is better than I expected at this point of the season given how our first Koeman transfer window went. Maybe I was not expecting as much as others from this season.
I am not singing his praises at this point, the performances we have been turning in are poor, we are consistently inconsistent.
The fact that we are still within touching distance of the top six, I believe, gives Koeman the right to expect the support of Everton fans. I have mentioned it before that I feel the next seven days are really important for us. If we have really learned from the last window we will be ready for this one and be able to move quickly and get a significant part of our business done. I hope the fact that we are 7th and have a possibility of qualifying for European football next year might make us a slightly more appealing prospect.
I believe Koeman's big test is to bring in better quality players and use them properly to win more games and establish a more entertaining style of football. This window won't make us a Champions League team, it is unrealistic to expect it to do so. To break into the top six would be a major achievement given they have been there for a while and we are coming from outside the top half.
Koeman took over an aging bottom half side, he hasn't transformed it but he is in the process of doing so. This will take time.

A deserved win today. First half I thought was a lot of huff and bluster without causing Southampton many problems.
2nd half much better, and no surprise that the breakthrough goal came from Rom putting Coleman in down the right. He'd (Coleman) got into that position a few times in the first half and then again in the second, but the final ball had been poor. 1st decent delivery and we got something out of it.
The penalty came from the best move of the game; fanstastic, quick football with Barkley (MOTM for me) and Davies both involved, and come great build up play.
All the talk this season of the return of hoofball is premature. Certainly, Koeman doesn't want players taking unnecessary risks at the back, this can be seen when our back 4 are put under opposition pressure and don't have a simple short pass as an out-ball, it tends to get launched, rather than take risks. But we're definitely trying to play it out from the back where possible, currently hindered by visible lack of confidence from the players in some instances, and a lack of quality in others.

My reading of it is if the long balls don't stick then he's getting the midfield to work hard winning the ball back which can create chances before the defence is set (see Rom's goal). Maybe he figures he can get that midfield pressing aggressively easier than he can turn Funes Mori or Williams in to effective build-from-the-back defenders? Pragmatic decision imo considering the squad he inherited.
Whose to say he wouldn't play entirely differently if he had a ball playing defender or a Pirlo style of defensive midfielder available?

Utd got their 6th win on the bounce today and there's now a 9 point gap between us in 7th and them in 6th, it's hard for me to see us improving on 7th for this season, and the next few seasons unless some serious transfer business is done over the next few windows, but who knows what'll happen. I think the fellas been given a hard time overall and not just about the style of football either but lots of tedious off the field stuff as well, which I've been surprised by, kinda makes it better when we win though.
There are some fairly grim teams below us though. When judged on the amount of space between us and the top 6, you might have a case in saying that we're shooting 1 or 2 over par

Think we are well behind some of the teams above us, not just in points but on ability as well. Serious overhaul needed, so if we can finish 7th this season that's probably a reasonable return with the squad he inherited
