Gerard Deulofeu

The ever reliable Gerard Romero has said he wants to leave because he wants to play at a higher level.
Gerard Romero doesn't BS. He knows Deulo in person too.

Doesn't suprirse me one bit. Get this [Poor language removed] out the club asap. Attitude stinks.
Makes me sick the way people want to keep him

'makes you sick'. Give over. And provide a link too.

For me he's currently far too much of a luxury player who has undoubted talent and ability, yet more often than fails to apply this consistently.

People may rightly argue that he needs games to find his form and potentially has more ability than others who are currently in and around the XI.

Although on the other hand, can we afford someone who clearly isn't fit enough for playing a full game regularly and can often be lacklustre?

Added to that, this is now the third manager who has failed to regularly start him so it raises serious questions on whether he's good enough.

Like @Baines' left foot I'm a bit apathetic regarding whether he leaves or not: if he stays he can offer but if he goes he won't be a huge loss.

He isn't a luxury player, though. We don't use him. We instead use players that are demonstrably worse than he is.

Yes we aren't using him purely because in my humble opinion he's a luxury which we can't currently afford. May play very well but often doesn't.

Obviously I'm only surmising, yet for me it seems that Koeman has decided that he'd rather have players who gave their all yet are less talented.

Players who'll defend from the front, press players, are willing to consistently track back and in the mainstay last the entirety of a game.

Lennon is the prime example, whereas players like Barkley (with some similar traits to Deulofeu) are struggling to find regular starting positions.

For what Delboy can offer to games then yes I wish he was starting more often, although the crux of it is he seems to let us down too often.

And because there are many other issues in our current squad, whereby we aren't anywhere near the required standard, we can't take the risk.

Disagree with the first part. We cant have all our attacking players doing nothing without the ball as they are doing 'their job' going forward - the defence would be absolutely hammered. You cant just create 4-5 chances a game and do nothing else.

The second bit I fully agree with, he's still giving Ross, Rom and Mirallas games when they are very similar to Geri in terms of workrate.

I agree he has to improve defensively ... but he has... when he first came he did literally nothing... and never crosses or passed... always going for goal. Comparing him to that player we first had on loan, everyone must see that his workrate is higher and he does try to help out defending ( improvement) he is less selfish (improvement) he crosses more ( improvement ) his crossing technique has changed ( improved) he doesn't always try to heat the full back now and can put the ball in early and you can see he is desperate to play. He still needs to improve but he is improving and I am willing to give him time as long as he continues to do so. Ross and Kev have both gone backwards cleverley is rank and Lennon I actually like but he doesn't seem to get many minutes either (dispite him being the most suited to koemans apparent pressing system that he wants) it's by no means a certainty that Gerry will be the best Ronaldo or even world class ... but he's improving and while that is happening I would give him minutes and deffo not sell at the moment.

I said a long time ago that I can't be bothered with all his theatrical stuff. I doubt that Koeman is a big fan of it either. Shows to me a lack of the required character for beings winner. Nice bloke but not one for me.

Koeman is just a fan of lumping it up to a lone man in the hope he taps it in ! Doesnt really work as evidenced our results

If we had younger fitter players around delefeo it would bring out the best in him, he is probably to skilful for Koeman
we are so much better off keeping our younger players and shipping out the deadwood

If he does get sold and not loaned, how much are we looking at. We paid around £6.5 but it was only that low because Barca had buyback clauses. I think we should be looking at £10mill.

With the over inflatted prices we might get 10 for him if we are lucky. Everton and Barca did a good deal, if he turned out to be good they can get him back, which hasn't happened but we should be able to at least get back what we paid, everyone's a winner.

Could see him going to the likes of Hull or Sunderland if they can sell to buy

What a strange viewpoint.

'Dipping in and out of the side' is NOT giving him chances. He's played and been the best player on the pitch and dropped.

And he fails to take them, however, we had flash of brilliance against the mighty Watford! Coleman alongside his defensive duties is a more productive attacking player than Deulofeu, not much else for him here apart from the door. If he goes out on loan in Italy and learns team responsibility and to deliver the ball into the box with a degree of consistency, happy days for us all, but I doubt he will.
