Ross Barkley

...I think the lad is big enough to get the best out of himself, Joey. You suggest playing him deeper is now the solution, just put him in there and we'll have a super player. Somehow I doubt it. I also wonder if he'll come close to the success and longevity Barry has had in his career.

Barkley has had enough excuses made for him but the truth is he's continually failed to positively impact games. I'd be chuffed if he does but I fear RK has found him out. Be interesting if there is a top coach out there who wants him, I'm not aware of any.
let him go to another team with a midfield in it of more than old average players to get the best out of him then - Barry is too too slow captain - i would not have him on the bench!
I am not saying play him deeper play him in a midfield with pace not has beens do you really think cleverly , and barry are the answer before Ross?
So why does out new Ginger numpty highlight him ?
Lets not get carried away our first half v a depleted Leicester team was the most uninspiring play I have seen for a decade - it was only when Ross and Tom Davis entered the midfield we looked like a football side!
the best passer was our goal keeper until Ross with a blinding ball put in Lukaku to settle the game - KM also his legs are going - Baines is now the wrong side of 30 like Jags, and although great servants are now more injury prone so yes let the manager take it out on our most skillful youngster in a team under him I have not seen a full 90 minute performance this season as yet - Spurs , and Arsenal at home for 70% of the game , the rest has been average to say the least he has added to the squad from last year at times the football is dire!
Hoof as returned particularly when Ross is dropped!
Ross would thrive at any top four team in a decent midfield we would regret selling him imo!

I keep saying the same thing what if he is a player who only plays well in a good team. Surely we have to wait until we are a good team before even contemplating letting him go.

Seriously imagine if busquets played for us a defensive midfielder with limited pace & strength but good on the ball when he has options he would be absolutely slaughtered every week yet given the right conditions he would be our best player.

....we'll have to agree to disagree, Joey. I think you are blaming everybody else for Barkleys shortcomings. I do agree we play longer ball when he's not in the team because he's the only true link between back and front, the trouble is he's not consistent and often ineffective. I doubt any top four side would want him but hopefully the penny drops for him, it's up to him when he crosses the white line.

I usually agree with you on 100% of things , but if you're saying we have better midfielders than Ross then I am baffled!

...no, I think he's the only true creative central midfielder we have but I fear he's not good enough and that will be highlighted when we get somebody better in. He performs very well at times but those times are not often enough for a top player. Martinez gave him no responsibility and it suited but RK wants more from his midfielders and I fear Barkley has been found out.

As I said, he's a great runner with a football at his feet but looks laboured without it. He was abject in the Derby, the poorly weighted free kick he gave to Coleman and then the cross hit high into Gwladys St when we had a chance to relieve pressure was truly awful. Henderson looked after him wearing his pipe and slippers, Barkley kicked him when it should've been the other way around.

you could play messi in along side Barry, and he would look a bit useless imo!

He deffo wouldn't like
he ruddy would barry was statuesque at Leicester one season too far - we also lacked width who was playing where Coleman for instance?
I could only make out where the keeper was playing our central defenders three of them, and Lukaku upfront
did you witness that first half it was diabolical!

..Barry played 34 league games as part of City's first ever Premiership winning team in 2012, Koeman says he's one of the best footballers he's ever worked with and it's likely he'll have more Premiership appearances than any other footballer. That's not a bad record even if he's past his best.

Really lets see how he would slot into arsenal or spurs or even the other lot easily imo!
Barkley has never been linked with anybody as far as i know never mind a top 4 side. Sadly after showing early glimpses he has gone backwards. He has to be instructed what to do during every match. By past managers at league and international level.defensively he is just not switched on and does not like a tackle or heading a ball. So in my opinion that just leaves an attacking midfielder which he fails to live up to on a consistant basis. I would love the lad to prove me wrong but i feel that time has long gone.the lad has ability but either doesnt know how to apply it or just cant.
