Got it right today. Can't knock a good solid away win, even if we took our time getting going.

Comparing our position now to this time last season, we are on the same number of points after 18 games, but I think our last 20 games saw us get 21 points? The football isn't free flowing, although we can put good moves together (see Gana's miss today), but I'm satisfied we're on the right track and barring a relegation-esque run of form we will improve on our last season final placing.

I quite like his flexibility. I'm sure some would argue he doesn't play a settled 11 and he keeps juggling his formations, but that to me says he's tinkering based on the opposition we're playing rather than doing the same week in week out no matter what.

There's still a lot of work to be done, hopefully starting in the January transfer window, but if we can hover around the European places and hopefully progress in the FA cup it will be a decent first season and give us plenty to build on.

Feels like he is doing the groundwork to me. Like building a house. All the grim, but important bits are done first, foundations, services being connected, then you move on to the bits that people see and appreciate, like facings and paintwork.

Maybe Davis and Ross, cameos notwithstanding, were the first signs of a paint pot being opened. Certainly felt fresher.

Didnt see any of it, other than about 5 minutes, so no idea how it panned out.

But Davies obvs made a great contribution, Ross too from what I heard and read. But 0 2 at the Champions, following biffing the Arse, and being a bit unlucky against the lovables, is a block to build on.

Feels ok.

Piss easy game against fodder on Friday then 2 home games to come, be nice to get a run together in a month that wasnt August!

Nowt odd about it.

The question posed was how much a Cup win would be valued against a league placing outside the top four.

17th is used to illustrate how desperate most of us are to see EFC lift a trophy......and that so long as we ain't below 17th we will prefer a Cup over any league position outside the top four.

I wouldn't have thought so but seemingly some find difficulty with the concept.

But.....that is just an extreme hypothesis.

I would much rather we finished top of the table and won the Cup.

But that's just me....I am a proper "greedy" bugger :p

He strikes me as being prepared to be ruthless which is exactly what is needed with this bunch of players who were mollycuddled for 3 years. His treatment of Jagielka, Barry, and Barkley is evidence of this.

Absolutely.

We've had to get there in a roundabout sort of way but if we can get to 30 points by the 20th game of the season, that's a solid enough start.

Barkley and Davies are going to need to be phased back into the side for almost polar opposite reasons, but there is a place for both of them at Everton, and it will be a test for Koeman to see if he can get them both up to their fullest potential.

It looks like a Koeman side is going to go on runs of results, both positive and negatively. Hopefully we are on an upwards curve
 

Considering how limited the squad is, and given our performance levels, 7 points out of 12 from United, Arsenal, Them and Leicester is much better in terms of results.

I don't know how much longer I can go with this opinion, but if we can get the points ratio from the run we just did, given we have still failed to put in a good performance longer than 45 mins at a time, I say there are much better things to come and that with new additions Koeman still has the opportunity to turn the season around as he did with Southampton.
 
A good win to help us consign the derby result to history.There has been a lot of hysteria over the past few months but we are 7th as the year draws to a close.We are a good few points off 5th and 6th but Spurs and Man United will drop points as the season goes on.When they do we need to be ready to pounce.But i think most of us feel that anything from 6th place to 8th place would resemble a reasonable first season for Koeman and we are on course to achieve that at the very least.As 2016 draws to a close i do think while there have been issues some posters have been overstating them.I wouldn't say i am doing handstands and cartwheels over the first few months of the Koeman regime but i am reasonably satisfied with where we are right now and im quite confident that well drive it on in 2017.Hopefully the manager will get his transfer targets secured in January as well.In koeman i continue to trust.
 
I have it on good authority that big Ronald delivered a rousing, inspirational speech to the players just before our match against the champions. Apparently, he reminded them how privileged they are and challenged them to show that they are worthy of representing Everton Football Club and its fans.
