Just get rid of him and get some fresher legs in, I don't see the point of ageing squad players with experience only really has a they lasting effect on both ends of the pitch (strikers less so) not the midfield. Experience is not that valuable if you got no legs to chase the ball. Even Pirlo looks like he shouldn't be on the American pitches these days

Edit: to say that Barry should.be saved for certain types.of games doesn't make sense as well the Pl is stupidly brutal

People are going to over-egg his terribleness tonight, but he was merely the wrong player for this game. The winds had already started blowing against us when he came on

This is 100% accurate. I definitely think he hasn't been as good this season as he has been in the last three under Martinez, and you can check my post history for a big one if you want to see my case for dropping him, but this was the wrong game to bring him on for. He simply isn't quick enough to deal with their pressing in midfield, and he was exposed today for it.

Another 18 months though

We have absolutely no idea when to just let a player go at the right time, obsessed with keeping hold of people a season too long until they become a laughing stock. Someone has a couple of half decent games when they enter their last 12 months and we just launch a new contract at them. Pathetic club.

It's to nostalgic, the lad is a cracking pro but his time is up. He along with a few others should have been waved goodbye in the summer.

My worry is how much is he going to play over the next 18 months

He wasn't the right player for tonight, but he's been solid this season. My booing pecking order goes like this

1: Romelu Lukaku
2: Romelu Lukaku
3: Ross Barkley
4: Romelu Lukaku
5: Tom Cleverley

Prev my friend, you seem to have contracted a serious bout of "Barraids" first spotted in subject: Roberto Martinez during the 14/15 season. It's becoming clear to us all that his presence in the team this season has been the main contributor to our sleepworthy crawling pace football.

Barry was atrocious when he came on, I can't deny it. But I think he's been very good this season generally. It simply wasn't a game for him with all those free roaming midfielders charging about. I was more worried about the epidemic of Jarg-Belgian Blindness which, I'm happy to report, has shown significant signs of remission when the eyes are gently rubbed with "Romelu's Cannonshins"

Leon osman Tim howard and now barry. Can you imagine barry getting a game with the rs. They would have him out the door 2 years ago after his injury. But us no... lets give him a contract extension

We did ok without him at arsenal and the first half. Soon as he comes on everything is slow and nothing is created. He offers nothing! Why did we extend his deal?

He's now got the money in the bank and will coast his career out. Well done everton
