Ronald Koeman discussion

Who has said that? I see him being critiqued about how rubbish we are but apart from @Zatara I haven't see another poster say they want him out. Most are just projecting their thoughts on what they are seeing.
I'm leaning more and more to saying bite the bullet and sack him. I don't think it will happen, but he's been pretty bad so far. The weaknesses he's displayed so far were all there if you wanted to look for them. I wouldn't have a problem with Unsworth being given a caretaker role to see how it goes.

Just thinking out loud here.

The past three managers have played very similar formations and tactics here right? moyes was more defensive , Martinez more attacking and koeman in the middle. But either way similar formations and largely similar players in those positions.

So is the simple answer change it? You read so many times of players these days being reinvented in positions, valencia and moses wing backs, milner left back, in changes of systems thst actually work and get results. So perhaps that is what is fundamentally wrong? the same players in the same formations and no chance of a change bar switching a winger from one side to the next

Ive been saying this for ages. Einstein wasn't the one who said that insanity quote but it's basically what Koeman (and what cost Martinez his job ultimately) has been doing. Keeps on putting the SAME players in the SAME formation then wonders why we look poor. It's like he doesn't realize his job is to find a system that best suits his players or he doesn't realize he can change the formation.

One of the bigger problems I see is that we essentially carry 2-3 passengers in any game. Barkley/Lukaku and a winger usually. A team these days usually can afford to allow 1 to do their own thing and, fair play to Barkley, he's upped his game, but he's not really a decisive factor in getting the ball back that often. One might wonder after he was dropped if someone had a word with Koeman..

I'm sick of 4-2-3-1 like. I remember Moyes years ago was struggling, so he changed the formation to a 4-4-2 against Bolton (Howard scored). We got beat 2-1, but primarily because he played Neville and Heitinga as the two midfielders. Was very much Moyes saying 'here's your f**king 4-4-2'

Anyway. Bring 4-4-2 back for me.

Totally remember that game and that's pretty much how I remember the post match interview going as well. Did wonders for our club but MAN did he hate when ANYONE questioned him or the football he employed.
