Ronald Koeman discussion

He hasnt tho, hes done his job, not saying hes been amazing, but hes hardly put a foot wrong, he deserves his place.

He could win player of the month and you would still be slating him.

The length's Zat is going to to try and make out like the least of our issues are a main issue is baffling.

Coleman has been poor at best.
I don't think he's been great I think he's been okay. In saying that I don't think Holgate should have been dropped for him.
If a younger player comes in and is playing well and getting better each game then he shouldn't be dropped. That way everyone realises if you're playing well you stay in. Holgate should have stayed in until his form dipped (as it will with all young players) then Coleman brought back. That way Coleman knows if his form dips he'll be dropped. The situation we have now is he knows he won't be dropped. In short poor management by Koeman.

Agree with this.

Coleman hasn't been at his best - and his place should always be under threat as that's how good squads work.

But, he hasn't been poor at all.

He was getting slated a game after coming back from injury despite the fact we won it 3-0 and he then scored in the next game.

Last year, we had 20 points and a goal difference of +8.

This year, we have 19 points and a goal difference of +1.

I just looked this up as someone offered me a ticket for the Soton game, which I had to turn down, but even that decision was oddsed by "how boring we are" at the moment.

Considering that RK enjoyed the best ever start to a league campaign, it's not so much the wheels coming off, as the bloody axles. You'd hope that serious questions are being asked about the lack of progress.

Have discussed this with a couple of blues, and in Roberto's defence, at least we looked like we had some goals in us last year. This year initial defensive solidity has waned and there seems to be very, very little in attack.

The board should really be making some noises about progress in my opinion. As others have commented, we somehow seem to have travelled back in time to Walter's final two seasons. A mirage of defensive solidity and fcuk-all in the final third.

Ronald. This is fjcuking Sh1te man.

This time last year we had just thrown away a two-goal lead at Bournemouth only to then throw the lead away again in stoppage time.

Our issues in the past year can be traced back to that exact point.

We never fully recovered.

How can people want Koeman out, when they were happy to continue with Martinez?

Martinez first season was amazing, because the team still knew how to defend from the Moyes term. We soon saw how that ended, once Martinez got his teeth into the squad.

Like Martinez, it's going to take Koeman time to unravel what was created before him. That will mean getting rid of some of the lazy, not bothered players we have.

Kith my friend, we are all frustrated as heck at the ways things have gone of late and fully understand the sentiments expressed, but please try and refrain from bad language and deliberately avoiding the swear filter...
Cheers,
Andy

Who has said that? I see him being critiqued about how rubbish we are but apart from @Zatara I haven't see another poster say they want him out. Most are just projecting their thoughts on what they are seeing.

Spot on. Not sure I'd always associate old with lazy - pace and fitness drop naturally (I'm 41, I know these things :)

But you're right, there's no point slinging out Koeman before he's had a window or two to build and refine his team. I do think body language is poor from him and some players though - and that does smack of complacency. We looked lethargic against Southampton, particularly. Not good enough to only expect to buy the players we need, he must improve in energising and disciplining players and be ready to try out our various excellent young players.

Matt

IMO Williams has been our best player defensively by a distance, the incompetence of others has made it hard for him to stand out, defence is about the unit as a whole and I think he will grow into a really solid CB for us as we improve as a unit and add new faces.

In my eyes, Gueye's job is to cover ground, turn over possession and give it simple to a creative player which stats show he is one of, if not the best at this in the league this season. But due to the other players not doing their job Gueye has had to try turn provider, run at the oppositions defence and get into goal scoring positions at times which isn't his game. He has gave the ball away, been caught in possession and missed sitters but at least he has the character to step up out his comfort zone and try and make something happen whilst others are hiding.

I don't know how people can criticise the likes of Bolasie and Lukaku, they rely on service which they have had very little of this year and have still managed to be one of the leagues most effective partnerships.

As for Coleman, we have had much worse performers, but to name them is stating the obvious so I looked at players we consider to be some of our best and Coleman IMO has been substandard this season. Poor defensively, and his final ball has also been poor.. on his day he's great but we haven't seen it enough, maybe he doesn't suit Koemans system.

This !!! I refuse to have a go at a player who isn't attacking like barkley or Romelu or Mirallas, who actually tries to push forward and fill the gap. At one point in something like the 82nd minute, gana picked the ball up, looked to play forward quickly and had Gareth Barry running across him and backwards to get a simple pass, completely killed momentum and we ended up giving the ball away. Not to excuse Gana by the way who had a few simple 5 yard passes go straight to the opposition, but at least he has something to offer like being barrys replacement.
