So true love to see Ross in a firing top team clearly he hasn't the character to lift teammates which is no problem he is not yet 23 & may never have it look at hazard he would shrink in this team however put him in the correct environment & he is the best player in the league

That's true.

Way I see it, even if he stays as he is now, and does not improve....he is still a very good player on the verge of the National side.

If he gets a bit worse, and his 'meh' performances become the norm....then he is Leon Osman.

People expect too much, because they and all of us are starved of any kind of success.

agree fully with both of these posts, its what I have been saying about Barkley all through this crap period.

Unfortunately he doesn't seem like he will ever have the character to try drag us out of a mess, but put him in a functioning decent team and he has plenty to offer....ranging from decent attacking performances to man of the match displays.

I'd prefer that he wasn't driven out by Koeman if that was even on his mind and that he is still here, at least floating around the edges of the squad for the future so we have a skillful local lad in amongst any success that may be to come down the line.

The fact that Koeman didn't know who Josh Sims was is very worrying.

Very worrying

It was possibly lost in translation, but the actual quotes were along the lines of:

"I wasn't aware of Sims when I was at Southampton. I saw him play for the U21s but was not impressed. He's not my problem though. I am Everton manager."

So whether he really meant he wasn't aware of Sims' talent.

Anyway, Sims played well, but wasn't anything extraordinary.

What he did was add pace and energy. Something that we lack.

Why? He plays one game. He is not Rooney.
The fact that he has just left Southampton what 5 months ago?? And he didn't know a very promising youth player contracted to the very team he manages.

Soton fans warned us that Koeman didn't care about young players, I can see were they are coming from now.

I'm staggered that some dont see how appalling that ignorance was/is.

Imagine a manager of this club this season going elsewhere and stating he didn't know who someone like Jonjoe Kenny was? In fact, I'd actually bet big money that Koeman doesn't know who are in that U23 team right now beyond Dowell, Davies, Browning and Holgate.

Koeman gave quite a few Saints kids their debuts when he was there- realistically if you plays too many kids at once you won't get results and you'll be sacked. Hence, really why Chelsea have brought through about 2 kids since Abramovich came in.

Also, maybe if many of the youngsters at Soton didn't break through under him it was because their first team is full of proper, committed players that don't carry bottlers and overpaid charlatans like we do?

Obviously he should give guys like Davies, Holgate and Dowell a go now, but we shouldn't just assume he doesn't like them because he finished 7th and 6th at Southampton without playing kids every week.

Who were the quite a few kids who got their debuts under Koeman?

Sick of reading people say play the U23s personally, none of them are game changers.

Tom Davies looks a very good prospect, hes tidy on the ball and will have a fairly succesful career at a certain level, Mason Holgate, Brendan Galloway also, but none of them are game changers, none of them are the fabled number 8 with magic in their boots, none of them are the number 10 door unlocker and none of them are the beastly number 9 who slots for giggles.

Thats what we need, not some young lads who we will destroy with our groans, look at poor Ross, thats how it ends for them, killed by ya dar moaning at Goodison.

NSNO

Yet if he gave chances to them and they actually pushed out one or two onto the bench and therefore others off the bench perhaps those players would try harder to get their places back.

Additionally the other players can see that they could also be replaced at any time so may pull their fingers out.

The problem is Rom and Ross, we dont have any youth player able to push them out.

Its flawed logic.
