Gerard Deulofeu

Was the best winger today whilst also being not great.

I like that he at least tries different things, he's a faster football thinker than our other players and even when something isn't coming off he's at least causing some problems.

Won us a few corners, which to be fair are absolutely dire and need sorting out.

He took a terrible shot from distance, but it was boss because nobody else would dare do something like that...

Since we just disagreed about McCarthy, thought i'd challenge this too (not wanting to start a petty feud or anything lol). I agree with you in that it was good to see Deulofeu actually trying things today. But is that really good enough for someone who was brought through the ranks at Barcelona and who we all have high hopes for? On his day he is excellent but it doesn't come around too often.

I thought his end product was absolutely embarrassing today if i'm honest. He had numerous crosses which were never reaching any of our players or straight to Fabianski, he blazed a wild shot over the bar when there were other options, and that corner he had was a disgrace. He's a winger and he can't beat the first man on a corner. What is it that he is practising day in day out? Infuriates me how our players can't take corners.

Not good enough, no, but better than Mirallas etc, hence why I said he was pretty rubbish!

The thing is, every team I see play seem to be able to get a decent amount of attackers in and around the box, whereas I feel Everton just completely isolate our singular striker (no manager seems to change this for us either). This contributes to all our crosses looking pants!

I.e. The amount of over-hit crosses between Del and Bolasie on a regular basis, you'd think just have a late runner into the box? So somebody is always there for the spectacular volley or to create a second opportunity, but instead it's literally just Lukaku staring as the ball whizzes past.

In regards to corners, that can also apply to Baines, it's becoming embarrassing. In fact, Baines free kick was completely embarrassing, literally slamming the ball into the ground/the wall.

The shot from Del was full-scale relief for me personally. After 90 mins vs Chelsea without a blooming shot, and what felt eerily similar today, it was nice to see that just getting the ball, charging forward and having a pop was on his mind. Obviously, there were better options, but ultimately the entire game had proved that all these 'options' were doing sod all! Hence why Del was brought on in the first place.

This is our big problem, how many attacking minded players on the pitch at the end and who was really getting in and around the peno spot? Too easy for their back four and keeper

Came on and immediately injected some attacking energy - again. Only player who could kick a ball to another player in a blue shirt. Makes stuff happen. Works hard for the team and loves the club.

I don't buy that he's so amazingly unfit that he can't do 60 minutes rather than 30.

Agree with this, he needs to start

I don't understand the get Geri on shouts. Other than the Spurs match he's been just stinking up the joint. You know who's been a better attacker than Geri this season? Designated whipping boy Barkley.

through the middle?
Passed ball to feet and got us moving, Lukaku was actually involved in the game as soon as he came on.
