Ronald Koeman discussion

I'm reliably informed it's been the average finish for a decade.
That still doesn't make it a tradition mate. 3 times in all those years...
Besides, he had two freak seasons that throw the stats... Take away the one off 4th place and the one off 17th and you will get a better reflection of Moyes time here as an average.

"Everton is a big project but not an easy one."

WTF?

He;s got a squad of internationals there and apparently the cash to buy rubbish like Bolasie.

Imagine this feller if he had the Bournemouth job, he'd be hiding behind the couch sucking his thumb.

This, Mr Koeman, is a job that's relatively easy to get right with a few quid spent here and there. Stop making it sound like you've just been asked to take the Dog & Duck to the Champions League.

At what point would you hold your hand up and say he has done a good job then?

There's another thing he said there that was glaring to me: he stated that people want to get away from the way of playing in the previous two seasons. What we actually want is to keep the attacking prowess of the team and have a sounder defence; we dont want to ditch the whole thing and bring in a way of football that leaves us sterile and lacking in creativity, which we are now.

Of course, all that goes to the heart of the issue for me so far with Koeman: the claim he's added a defence - he hasn't. The back four are still dire and all he's done is to play a lot deeper and more conservatively.

I think we're some way off that, dont you?

If he gets us playing some attacking football, building through the middle and creating moves and a lot of chances we're in the right direction. There';s fat chance of that right now though.

He took over a shambles and was let down badly with summer acquisitions so he gets more time for me. He wasn't my first choice but will give him a chance to sort it out.

Was that really there at the end. Gone were the days of getting beat 4-3 and 3-2, we were getting beat 4-0 and 3-0.

Yes we are miles away I agree.
Attacking football and building from the back (slowly) was last seasons performances look where that got us!

Yes it was mate until the last ten weeks or so when the situation was dire.

We can agree till the cows come home about the poor defence in the last two seasons, but there's no sense in denying that in all but the very last few months of his tenure Martinez's teams tried at all times to carry an attacking threat.

It's my argument that we can have that still if the back four were satisfactory...they clearly still are not.
