Ronald Koeman discussion

Koeman inherited very solid foundations at Southampton, and even though he had to replace a few players, the fundamentals of the way of playing and players he inherited were sound

At Everton, that was very much not the case. The last two seasons were shambolic, regardless of the unbelievable spin anyone wants to try and put on it

He's having to rebuild

Now, he's got the job here basically on the strength of his work at Southampton - he did well there, building on the solid work that went before him. He doesn't have a track record for turning a ship around, so I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens there.

My biggest criticism at the moment is essentially that whilst we look better defensively than we did under El Loco, I at least understood what Martinez was trying to do (even if it was desperately flawed). At the moment I have no idea how Koeman wants us to play. We lack identity

Koeman / Megson / tosh manager

Williams = £.9.5 mil (2 years then Distined)
Valencia = £1mil+ loan fee £14.5mil buyout
Gueye = £6.5mil (signed by Walsh
Bolasie = £28mil

So we have an ageing centre back, useless forward and the most overpriced player in our history signed by Koeman...

Lucky walsh signed Gueye.

I am still a bit concerned that we tried to sign that trumpet Sissoko. Not only is he a bang average footballer, his attitude and commitment stinks.
I was chuffed when Spurs gazumped us. We almost wasted £30m.

We may have money to spend in January, but please Everton, don't spend it like Martin O'Neill at Villa ffs!

You dont think Martinez' 1st season and Koemans 1st seasons are fair comparisons?

Jesus Christ...

Obviously not.

Martinez took over a solid team that finished 6th, had one of the best home records in the league and an air-tight defence.

Koeman took over a completely disjointed, lazy, unbalanced squad that has finished in the bottom half in consecutive seasons, on the back of our worst home record in our history.

So no, 1st season Martinez v. 1st season Koeman is not a fair comparison.

We certainly had a lucky escape there. Surprised that Spurs were drawn into it at all, looks like their bluff was called, and Levy wanted to make a statement by beating us to him.

I am also concerned with links to Depay, there are similar question marks over his attitude and commitment and he doesn't seem like a guy who would be dependable for effort "on a wet and windy night at Stoke"

The stakes are enormous for the next two windows. The mutterings of us fans are largely irrelavant within the walls of FF but I think there will be big pressure internally (if a big transfer pot is indeed there?) not only to spend, but to spend well. They can't countenance a repeat of Moshiri going on about how bizarre/ridiculous the market is to Jim White.

There was lots of talk in the summer about the club refusing to be held to ransom by players and agents which I agree with but that doesn't mean they are immune to pressure to get deals done, and they will find that pressure inevitably increasing given our underwhelming form.

Valencia was nothing other than pure panic, thankfully on loan, justified it seems on the basis of "somebody is better than nobody" logic. But it serves to show they weren't immune from the sort of knee-jerk / panic responses that other clubs are often ridiculed for.

We had a long history under Moyes of being very careful with signings, not only did we not spend big, but apart from some inevitable disasters, we were brilliant in that era of getting bang for our buck. Of course times have now changed and signings similar to Arteta and Cahill are no longer such easy pickings, but still there.

We can but hope that the budget is there and that Walsh and Co. have put steps in place to ensure a streamlined, efficient, co-ordinated transfer process that still gets value for money.

If we spend a large pot and get it wrong then I really don't see where we go from there. If we don't have a sufficiently large pot in the first place, then it's the same.

Call it whatever you like but I prefer managers who find it a privilage to be representing our club.

He's gone now but should be treated with the respect he showed to us.

So you fell for his BS that he found it a privilege to manage Everton! you actually believe anything out of the mouth of a man who described Aiden McGeady phenomenal and also said.....wait for it......"I think when he is fit he'll take us to a different level in terms of our forward play.? lol http://www.skysports.com/football/n...rto-martinez-says-aiden-mcgeady-is-phenomenal

Either a poor attempt at wumming or you need a bit of time away from this forum dude for your own sanity. For every 1 decent post there is 50 like this utter garbage you are ranting on about. He deserves zero respect for his work as a manager as he has basically been paid very highly to be a massive and complete failure and has taken the club backwards 5 years.

All your opinion of course, which TBF is massively prejudiced against the manager as you want him to fail so badly.

Out of those 4 you have written about, no reason at all to question the signing of Williams. Bolasie is another you are desperate to fail so badly, just because you can say "i told you so" yet bizarrely you want to give more and more chances to Deulofeu as he is your pretty little poster boy, without any sense of irony at all from you.

Strange behaviour from a grown man.

You just don't get it do you mate? You need to try a sport you know something about, if there is one! Stop trying to be a poor mans Davek, it aint working.

Not answering for him like, but you don't consider writing off a manager 13 games in when we are sat 7th in the table after inheriting a really poor side a bit of a starting point?

I may be getting confused here genuinely so ignore me if so
but this was @Zatara 's post:

And this was the reply..

Seems a bit excessive which is why i asked what was so outrageous. I think I pretty much agree with Zat's appraisal tbh
