ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Just stop going then - what a poor attitude...
Really?

So when you see am out of form liverpool beat us 3 0 and give Gerrard a hat trick. or you see the ref rob us again and again. Or you watch as you sit there for 45 minutes and wait to be knocked out the cup, or you see us get hammered on the way to a title run where you just look insignificant. How about being embarrassed when the team don't even bother turning up because the manager has lost all credibility. How about derbies where your club has spent piss all in 2 years and you see their 50 million pound striker score with ease.

Back when I was a kid you turned up to derbies with hope. my first ever derby and some Scottish fella on loan from rangers sent the crowd crazy after such a poor start to the season where we were dead and buried. Back then there was passion in our club, the game meant something and it meant something to us all from the players to the fans. When was the last time the Derby meant something to us? when was the last time we genuinely turned up into a game and really fought them for pride ? Until the players show a bit of passion for the game after 15 years then I'm sorry for being a little uninterested.

And you know what makes it so much worse? We lose and they laugh at us, we best them and they still laugh because us besting them is such an insignificance to them now. That is how far that game has fallen, so why even bother looking forward to a game that as recent history has proven , even if the team turn up, the ref will just help them win anyway?

And a whinge/cringe fest 4 or 5 weeks out is part of why we lose.
But until the team get out of the same bad habit, neither will we.

it starts at the top...it ends from the top.

It isn't really a winge fest, certainly from me at least.

for me it is not caring about that game, because it is the one game we either don't win or get screwed out of it. Once or twice i can let go but all the time? And if it is not either of them then we get hammered by them by not turning up. the thing is, i cared about the chelsea defeat, i cared about the bournemouth defeat, hell even the norwich defeat. This is not a i don't care attitude whatsoever, because i do care, just not about them lot because after 15 years of refs and lack of fight in the team then the way i see it, sometimes you just forget about that game being any more than 3 points dropped in the season.

I think you'll find we'll get completely and utterly fisted if we come out and throw everyone forward and try to attack them.

I'm not saying we should just come out all guns blazing, but the problem is though mate, we sat back against Chelsea and got fisted, and only for a great defensive display could have got fisted by City because we sat back. The only saving Grace I suppose is, the RS struggle to break teams down who park the bus.

The derby has become a form of torture.

I'm not sure if I can watch it any longer.

Only so much of saying to yourself that "we're surely due a win" or "today/tonight will be different".

Agree with @Ashtonian - in recent years more often that not the players go out beaten in their heads before the start and just seem to cower in fear and roll over. Either that or some heroic vanguard action to keep them from scoring and we're left biting our nails for the whole game.

We had worse players and teams in the past that had fire in their bellies for the derby.

We were lucky that the two recent 4-0's didn't turn out to be far more humiliating.

Not sure what can be done about it either, other than to get tougher and better players in.

We're going to get fisted either way, let's not kid ourselves.

That's the spirit. Every level of our club displays this defeatist attitude. As fans, we could change this. How do you expect us to change on the pitch, when even the fans take this attitude. Maybe, just maybe, if we were a little more positive it may translate down to pitch level. Just a thought. Lickle old Everton complex.

Really?

We lose and they laugh at us

That's it really. Atkinson Derby I was fuming with rage at the sheer hypocrisy and their gloating.

10 years 20 Derbys - we don't turn up for 8 of them.. we draw 5. and win 3 deservedly and the other 4 we get one result less than we deserve thanks to a dipstick mistake or a rotten ref (Atkinson, Poll, Clatt being 3 obvious examples) so let's say 2 draw, 2 defeats

That's 3 wins 7 draws 10 losses (should be 5-7-8). Feels about right to me.

Not everyone takes "this attitude". Like many other ouldies on here, Ive seen great Everton sides still get shafted by inferior RS sides and other anomalies that went against us in derby games over the years. No complex though... little Everton or whatever you call it. Anything can happen in a derby...ask some of the RS at their place who were still mouthing OMG ten minutes after Phil Jags blasted that equaliser....how dare we. They can get stuffed as far as Im concerned...and Ive thought that for years.
