Ronald Koeman discussion

It isn't what you expect of a £6m employee. I'm under no illusions that he is only here for the dosh, and to further his own reputation, but he really could take a leaf out of Roberto's book when it comes to representing the club. At least he got that side of the role anyway.

I'd argue that Martinez raised expectations and realism of where we actually are way way too much to be honest.

Don't get me wrong I can understand why some, possibly the majority, are a bit miffed by what he said.

Personally I like the breath of realism.

realism for me is saying we weren't good enough against Chelsea. Realism is saying that Ross must do it every game and he hasn't been. I want Koeman to be blunt when we fail to hit our potential, no sugar coating at all.

His comments re Lukaku, to me, are screaming out that we are second rate and will be for the duration of his career. It is a poor message to send out to all our current players and any we hope to sign.

Koeman has pointed a glass ceiling that he feels is insurmountable for the club and by proxy Moshiri. I can't accept that his view is consistent with the view that Moshiri is selling to us via Jim White.

I understand your point fully and how it could be seen like that.

I just wish people could understand the argument that it really isn't that big of a deal all told.

Some people are still living in Martinez's magical fantasy land that he created where everything is an incredible, incredible moment.

Except they're not Mike, and your contribution here is just wumming which is not much different to much of the contribution of your obsession Davek over the last 2-3 yrs.

For my part its nothing to do with who the ex-boss was or how he acted. Nothing to do with the realism of where we are as a club right now. Nothing to do with having a direct manager over having a positive spin manager. Nothing to do with what actual real effect the comments will have or wont have.

In football you just dont say things like that about the club you are working for. Its not the done thing. We can argue about being bothered or not bothered by it but its simply not done. And from that there should be a general acceptance of people being wound up over it. If people want to wind up the more hysterical posters then fine, do so directly, but it should be generally understood as normal that he shouldnt have spoken in that way.

What some, including you, are doing is trying to portray it as if everybody is going crazy over absolutely nothing and tying it in to whatever Koeman agenda Davek has.

Theres plenty of levelheaded complaints about what has been said, but some posters dont really reply to those.....for some reason....

But that is exactly what's happening mate. It's a storm in a teacup. A non-scandal.

That's a really weird thing to say too by the way.

If he had used the form of words attributed to Moshiri then I could happily agree with that.

I'm just disappointed that Koeman didn't foresee the annoyance his words would cause. He's well versed in Twitter and the world of the sound bite to not have put it across the way he did.

In a week when Moshiri broke cover and revealed his cunning plan, we yet again hit the news from yet another self inflicted gaff.

You could say it's standard Everton really.

i dont think im the only whose commented on that Mike. You seem to bite on his every post and post a lot in reference to him.

apologies If I am the only one who sees that.

How does replying to a poster mean that, I thought the topic of a forum is that you discuss things with people? Am I obsessed with you now because I'm responding to your posts? Dave happens to make me laugh a lot more than anyone else around here, just the way it is Friend.

you ignored my points about why its not exactly nothing. i dont really agree with hysteria and comments which use words like disgrace....as some people are prone to freak outs like that....but to me its just not the done thing and would be picked up on by any fan of any club at the top level if their boss said it. in 30yrs of watching football its very clear to me that his comments were not of the everyday bland variety.

why do you think they are?
