Sir Landon Of Donovan

Im a bit wary to be honest! Needs to impact on games more for me.

Good performence at times tonight though!

Needs to be used more. He's the pace in the side and needs using more.

I think the right back position needs sorting though. We get a right footed baines on the right teaming up with him it'll be special

Very nice corner to set up the first goal, really nice ball to Saha which could have made it 2 and then drew the penalty. He was fantastic the first half, not quite as good the second half but still very good overall and Sky giving him an 8 was right to me.

Why they gave Heitinga a 6 I don't know.

From what little I was able to see tonight, someone will sign him, mark my works. It's seems to have been his best performance yet.

Requesting a PM from the guy that uploaded the man city match(y)

For now he's only playing well when he has a space in front of him, which happened frequently today, with A.Cole pushing forward as usual.

We need to find a way to use him properly in more static game, either using over lapping fullback (Coleman), passing full back (Heitinga), or just making sure Arteta will be playing closer to him, trying to create a space for Landon playing 1-2, or in triangles involving fullback or Cahill too.

I really like his workrate though, he knows well when he has to help his full back, and being very pacy he can do it very well.

I think we need a player who can press the full backs and is quick on the break - while Donvan provides a usefull outlet and fits the current system im leaning toward someone who can maybe offer us something different next season with the emphasis on breaking quickly on the couter, stretching a back four, who can get at people and who can vary it a bit.

Neiler, If you don't think Donovan is quick on the break

or can stretch the back four, I'm not sure what to tell you mate. Just go watch his goal vs Brazil in the Confed Cup. His pace on the wings is exactly what's needed to stretch a defense. It's not a coincidence either that Everton has played better since his his arrival. He's solidified the right wing. The more he touches the ball in space, the better it is for the Toffees. The yanks don't have a super history when it comes to field players but he's the best of the lot and he's no slouch I might add. He gave Cole and Carhvallo fits this evening.

You just described Landon Donovan if Everton used him properly.

Maybe lads wel see, not saying hes a bad player and like you mention hes strengthened the right. At the moment i dont see the player you describe despite his obvious pace, i cant think of a time where he has gone in behind through pace, or in behind by beating a man which i think we need our counters are painfully slow and lack penetration, he will make ground and look to support and build up, he has a decent delivery as well - like i say not a bad player - maybe more to come - but so far for me he offers an additional outlet rather then the dimension that i think we need.

Controversial but hey just being honest, so far - he has a month and half to change my mind, if he does ill be the first to admit it.
