I agree with the rest of your post (though not sure he was the best player first half against Palace...) but I dont agree with the bit I have quoted.

You can knock together best moments from loads of players and they will look great. Lee Trundle for example would have one of the best packages around (ooer..). Consistency for me is what makes a player one of the very best and Barkley lacks that right now.

He aint the only one. Its the reason he still plays for us.

Appreciate this doesn't prove he was the best player & it's all about opinions but it's worth a look




Relative to your Lee trundle analogy who did he ever do it against lower level opposition Barkley has had many of his best games against the better teams that's has to be factored in.

First half of the Chelsea away game last season I didn't think mikel & Matic would come out for the second half he destroyed them together they couldn't stop him. Trundle may look good as you say but against journeyman

I must admit I don't do stats when it comes to football as other than the key stats (ie. the scoreline) they never give an accurate representation of the game. There are way too many variables. Coleman could beat 6 players, cross it in and it bounces of Kones arse to Lukaku who scores and its credited as a Kone assist for example.

Barkley frustrates me, always has done, the reason for me is that I find him to be a bit lazy and mentally weak. that said people do have ridiculously high expectations of him and I dont think he has been any worse than anybody else playing for us this season. He actually started the season fairly well.

Osman scored the best Everton goal I have ever seen... apart from Horne maybe ..

This. That game he was the best player on the park and it was because he was playing deeper, driving forward with the ball. He needs to be looking at how he slot alongside Gueye in the long term. He isn't a N10.
