I wasn't suggesting brummies and geordies were southerners. I was suggesting that golf is one of the very few words in english that everyone seems to pronounce the same.

I've lived in Sussex, Cardiff and Bristol, and travelled regularly to Norwich, Oxford, various parts of Essex, Gloucestershire and Hertfordshire - everyone says "golf" as if it rhymes with "Rolf" - which is exactly the same way every Geordie, Brummie, Scouser, Manc and Scot I've ever met says it too. I'm intrigued by the alternative pronunciation you've suggested - I've just never heard it.

Latest example was a contestant on pointless last friday. It's just horrible to hear.

Think my plan for now is to buy in Manchester, as it is an up-and-coming market, then see where I am at when I'm 27/28 before making the move down South.

Mostly refurbs and restorations.

Commercial property based.

I'm really enjoying the work, but the company I turned down the interview for were involved in The Shard and Heathrow's T2.

Just feel like London would be too big a step for me right now. Especially as I'm on the verge of having enough to put down a deposit in somewhere.

I work in Manchester, there is a lot of development already going on there. Media City is brilliant. It'll be interesting to see if this 'Northern Powerhouse' comes off and what it could mean to the city.

If you don't need to come to London, then I'd advise against it. My line of business only really exists in London (for the salary I now base my life around anyway) so it's hard for me to move away now (not that I'd want to, anyway).
 
Why doe's every beaut coming out of the QE2 courts, after being convicted of benefit fraud, and other worst and unmentionable offenses,
have a mobile to their ear and a oily rag in the other hand?

Never partaken in the lycra, but I'd say it looks like it'd get you there with less exertion than quicker. As someone who has to cycle to/from the station each day, if I could make it easier, I certainly would!
