Ross Barkley

I didn't say you did want him to leave - many others do though.

As for Barkley telling Koeman where he should play: I think it's more telling him how he should play. He's not lazy, he's not short of covering ground - he's just ill-suited to the defensive side of the game yet just happens to be one of the best attacking talents in the country. His manager does't need to be told that, in fact, he can see it if he ever watched Barkley in the two years he's managed in the PL. Or maybe he does see it and just doesn't fancy having him around because he cant fit him into the way he wants to play? We'll find out between now and next September, i suspect.
Koeman has issues with Barkley for the same reason as Deulofeu, young, work rate and inconsistent.

If he wasn't one of us and/or Koeman got a replacement he would be getting the same treatment.

Entirely different players for me, Lampard and Barkley, I see Barkley as having far more talent but just not making use of it. In the end we can all say whatever we want, thank whatever we want and blame whoever we want, for me though Ross is in charge of his own destiny. Right now he is way off my expectations and the expectations of many others. Does this mean I want him to fail, hell no, and I don't think anybody else does either. So no not sure where the Lampard comparison has come from but I will say that Lampard tackled better, tracked back better and headed better from what I saw over his career. And that's the point, it was over his career, however does it mean Ross is free from criticism until then, no it doesn't. It comes along with getting the dream job, the career many could only dream of.

Here's the thing though: I think we all agree Barkley hasn't put in a world class performance for us of late, but his standard this season is easily on a par with any other player other than Gueye and he deserves his place easily in the starting line up. That though is not enough for some who want him dropped because he can't put a world class performance on the table like we all know he can deliver.

It's utterly ridiculous.

Still not good enough...he has to be world class every game..
So when has Ross put in a World Class performance?

And those stats can be torn to shreds, depending on how you look at them.

29 first half passes to where, sideways?
29 first half passes sideways at a 97% success rate?
etc, etc....

There are many other stats that don't get reported, like the dithering on the ball and not getting back to cover.

I have watched the games and while he has not been the worst of the bunch many of his performances have not been up to the standard they should be. Yes 'SHOULD BE'. It's not nice having an expectation put on you, but there is another side to it as well, it means that people believe you have what it takes, it means that people expect something from you. I believe he has what it takes but I believe he has to start kicking on and should be at this age, this is a big season for him.

May have already been posted, but today's Observer published stats showing that only Puncheon, Willian and Tadic have created more chances than Ross this season.
But don't let that stop you Barkley-haters screaming that he's useless and needs to be sold to Rochdale or whatever.

Maybe your expectations of Ross are lower than many others? There's nothing wrong with that Davek but there's also nothing wrong with people expecting more from him. It comes with the territory. You go to a concert to watch your idol sing, he doesn't sound as good as you imagined, he had an off night. Does that mean people don't say "Hey this guy or gal sounded bad last night..."? No it doesn't people will say what they want and so be it. Will the famous person be bothered, not likely.

You're just making that up aren't you?

It's not Barkley haters Stan, it's people thinking he should be giving more. They have high expectations of him, obvously they think he is good enough.
