Ross Barkley

Ross would easily got for £30 million now, that's a top 8 prem price now.

Scholes looked quality, but he was NOT world class at 22, nobody was.
He may not have been class but at 20 Scholes scored 7 goals in 25 games, a lot as a sub and at 21 he scored 14 goals in 31 games, some of them as sub too. He wasn't world class but he showed very good promise, then they dropped him back into midfield, he showed a lot more consistency even then than Ross is. He has very bad spells every year in the first team but has been persevered with due to being a big talent and being young but now he has to earn his place and it shouldn't be a gimmee anymore.

Barkley
Barry Gueye

- Away from home or against good teams

Mata Barkley
Gueye

- For home matches or against poor teams

Was Mata really so hard to get in the summer?

Just look at the team Scholes had around him, you just cant directly compare the 2.

All you can say is, the 2 lads at 22 are kind of comparable.

Scholes was a key player and just as important to that team as anyone else in the side, he wasn't being carried by world class players. In fact a lot of those players looked better with Scholes alongside them, not the other way around. Would Barkley go to Man City now and be a key player? The answer is no I'm afraid.

Not at 22 he was not, he was a squad player with loads of potential, coming in at times and playing well, with Roy Keane and world class wingers and strikers around him.

Again, you are comparing a 28/29 year old Scholes with 22 year old Ross, its completely unfair.

Scholes only got a call up for England at 23.

Mate, we've been through this before, he was not a "squad" player. I'm not comparing 28/29 year old Scholes either, I've already posted a massive paragraph about this earlier in the thread so I cba doing it again.

And you are wrong, mate.

He was involved with 20-30 games a season, out of the 60 they play. Many as sub.

He was not at 22, the world class star we seen at 28/29.

Sorry I didn't realise he was immune to injuries and suspensions. He wasn't at his peak no, but he was much better then Barkley is now. You're kidding yourself if you think he wasn't.

Im saying Ross is at that same point at 22, and its unfair to be judging him poor or not good enough now, because at the same point these top drawer midfielders where not too different to what Ross is producing, and with worse players around him.

If he didn't have half of you lot on his back week in week out he'd be flying already.

That's right mate blame the fans. The same fans that sing we've got a diamond every game, the same fans that put him on a pedestal so hight even god couldn't touch him. Yeah mate its the fans fault, I will report you for every anti-player X post in future, even if your right.

Its a forum my friend people call it as they see it, right now he is poor to average.

Not really arsed about comparisons with other players, just want Ross to be boss.

So do I mate. It does absolutely no one any favours to pull the wool over your own eyes and pretend he's playing well when he's obviously not, because he's a blue. That's something Roberto Martinez, worst manager in Premier League history, would do.

People comparing Ross to the greats of Lampard, Scholes and Gerrard for goals and assists need to realise that there is a lot more to the argument than just following skysports.

Gerrard could grab a game by the scruff of the neck, Lampard turned up consistently and to big games, scholes could pass his way out of a bumhole without leaving any skids. Ross right now needs to show that he can do the basics right before becoming a legend.

His attitude for me is one of 'ive made it' he is almost bulletproof until Koeman came on, he should of been taken off Sunderland and thankfully Koeman seen that.

Please step up Ross, having our own Gerrard/Lampard/Scholes 10 years of greatness would be most welcome.

There's no way Jose would sell Mata in January. More chance getting Rooney.
