Been a defender of him for years but I'm rapidly losing faith to be frank. Games like that he should be dominating and yet again he stinks the gaff out making constant errors of judgement, he's gotten no better than he did during his break-out season. Lad is 22 now, soon to be 23. The old excuses shouldn't wash anymore. Players like Gerrard, Lampard, Ballack, Gascoigne, all greats whom he's compared too, they had long ironed out the same problems by then yet Ross doesn't look as if he learns at all. If you're this supposed world class midfielder in the making then you have to prove it FFS, and do it more than 3 or 4 times a season.
Watching him reminds me of watching a year 7 playing with the older lads in school. They under-hit passes, lose it cheaply and need a few seconds longer to make their minds up. And every now and then when they manage to do something good everyone goes "WAY! WELL-IN LAD!" in a light-hearted way. Nothing is done out of instinct with him, nothing seems easy. He either overthinks everything or does something stupid and rash.
Like I've said above, he's nearly 23 now. He can't be classed as a kid anymore, especially since he's been playing in the first team for nearly 4 years and is under his third manager. Needs dropping and if by the end of the season Koeman hasn't managed to bring him on substantially then it should be just accepted that he's simply not as a good as a lot of people think and want him to be.
