Its not resting a keeper, you dont do that, it is giving the other a run out, standard practice.

Fair enough. It wouldn't be my choice. I want our strongest team out in these cup games. And that includes having our best keeper. We have international breaks in October and November and shouldn't need to rotate. I want a pot.

Agreed.... Don't see how an athlete cannot play in goal up to 4 times a week personally.... His training must be more intense than his actual game... Which is weird for a sports person as it's usually impossible to simulate an actual match etc in a training environment

Early days, and just like with Everton, it's one game at a time.
So far he's been an extremely pleasant surprise, and made some absolutely key saves in our first 3 games. I think it's just refreshing to have a goalkeeping presence in the box, something we haven't had, since Howard began to decline.
He's a no thrills goalkeeper and gets the job done.

The signs are there that we can get a couple of years out of a promising keeper. For £750k is another astute Ronald Koeman and I'm excited to see his progression.

Fast becoming my favorite keeper since Martyn, he just gives you nothing to worry about. Some top saves so far, I also can't think of any moments of wayward distribution either.

Got him at the right time of his career too where he should be coming into his own (33).

He's just really, really competent. And no, Robles wouldn't look good in this defence - he just doesn't have the same presence. Like Funes Mori, he's a player who just always plays and looks like he's about to make a massive mistake.

Harsh on Robles that. He was very good for us when he came into the side last season. It went a bit wrong for him towards the end of the season but I think that was true for our whole team.

Robles was never very good. He was just better than Howard for a bit, but that said your average traffic cone would have been at that point.
