Bobbys pay off

Then why is it that very few managers take the full value of their contracts after being fired? Brendan Rodgers reportedly had a deal of 5 million a year up to the point he found a new club. Sounds reasonable. Adkins got 500k despite having 2 years left on his contract at Southampton.

People can and do negotiate to suit the needs of all parties without dragging it through courts and creating excessive animosity.

I suspect that Mosh justs wants to wipe the slate clean and move on while laughing boy does so all the way to the bank:mad:

Don't all managers get the rest of the contract paid off if they are sacked? (hence Pardew hanging around Newcastle as long as he did)

If so yeah it's a lot of money but if that's what he's owed that's what he's owed. No point getting all sanctimonious about it.

No they don't. Obviously they are entitled to it just like Bobby brown shoes was if they are willing to go that far. But generally they don't and this is why I'm on full fume about it, because a lot of better managers have been sacked for far less than what levels he sunk us to and had the dignity to take some of the blame on their shoulders.

But what's done is done now, hopefully he never steps a foot back at Goodison.

£10m.

Be some hair transplant that.

Yep.

why don't contracts have more clauses in them ie if u finish bottom half we can get rid of you for much less, he failed, why should his contract still be legally binding when he promised success and didn't achieve it.
I wonder if we have learnt with Ronnie's contract, 5 years at £6m a year is going to cost us if he turns out to be a duffer too.
Lower than x position in the league, we can choose to let you go for free, should be a standard clause for all clubs/managers.

No mate. Many managers contracts include performance clauses that can activate an agree payoff if they aren't hit.

Mourinho's contract at Chelsea had him on paid gardening leave for up to 12 months, which would end if he got another job.

This is ultimately the clubs fault for not being strong enough in the negotiations when they put the new contract in front of him. There should have been performance clauses and agreed notice periods within the 5 year deal.

Jeez!! Who care what he said in pressers, the ONLY thing that matters is what was written on the paper that both parties signed.
