Awaits people saying:

Martinez and staff pay off

Koeman 7mil x 3 year contract

=30-35 mil so far

Barkley and Lukaku new contracts

X3 or x5

Equal an extra 20-25 mil a year

Plus money we spent on Bolasie Marteen Williams GANA under 21 lads

= 50

Total sum aprox 100 mil

There is our 100 mil war chest? Am I right lads???

Bet it will be used at one point as nobody can bare to call out the obvious flaws in Moshiri, who's not spent penny of our Season ticket or Tv money.

Martinez was a poor PL football manager...only the cultists, fuming at the sacking of their demagogue, persist in lending stale oxygen to that debate.

But whilst we tire of the febrile rancour the cultists bring to the forum, we need to move ahead, to forge forward.

We need to all get along now people. OK, the plotters defeated the cultists; but that is yesterday's news. Let's move forward in harmony and unison.
I invite all cave-dwelling Rumpilstiltskinians to shuffle out from their crepuscular physical and mental crawl-space and embrace a coruscatingly new Everton Football Club.
The air is fresh... the light is bright

Bobby is Belgium's problem now.

Wonder what Belgium seen in him after his last seasons here? Is it the old card trick?

No it isn't, it's a matter of choice if you seek to chase the maximum contractual entitlement
That is true of course but how many people would not hold out for what they are legally entitled to? The fault lies not with Martinez but with whoever saw fit to draw up those terms.

Although I personally thought there would have been some sort of performance related review in this contract that would have reduced the severance liability?

I'm also thinking I'm being a bit silly taking any notice of the traditionally hostile Daily Mail. It's old news even if there is a grain of truth so why publish it now?

He did... But he already had us hard to beat... A few additions and I believe he would most probably bought well and improved again... And the following season? Given the 30m bobby was... I don't think you would have seen is in 11th
It's strange to think that if Martinez had been allowed to make another couple of first 11 signings in his first season then we would have walked into the champions league and maybe even been a dark horse for the title. However in just 2 further seasons, the same man had us real candidates for the drop. Had we suffered more injuries from January on, particularly to Lukaku, I think we were gone.

In that context, £10m isn't a bad investment to secure your overall Premier league income.

Just for the record I have no issue at all with Martinez seeking his full contractual entitlement. My issue is with those that agreed such terms from Everton's side.

If anyone is doubting that their reading comprehension skills are in need of repair.

Anyone trying to demonize Martinez for claiming what he was contractually promised and ultimately giving us a 2 mil discount for a lump payment is living in a dream world where people forfeit money owed to them based on a weird and obsessive witch hunt.

surely it could be argued he terminated his own contract through negligence and malpractice?

there's certainly enough quotes pertaining to how he handled the players, including from himself

Please note the parts of the contract citing your points.

Moaning about a fella getting what is due to him contractually is just weird.

You'd have done the same.

If you had such a contract you might let it go pear shaped to get sacked and earn yourself a fat pay off.

Questionable signings

Poor team tactics (Oviedo at RB) -
0-4 at the Pit (again).

well yerh, but surely people under contract fired for malpractice generally don't get payoffs

I doubt wakefield got a payoff
