Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Something I find very striking is that we have a very patchy record, at best, of signing directly from clubs outside England, in terms of the ultimate success of those signed, and the paltry frequency of the signings. Off the top of my head, in the last few years;

Shani Tarashaj (unfair to judge)
Oumar Niasse (!)
Funes Mori (moderate success)
Mo Besic (flattered to deceive for me)
Aiden McGeady (!)
Gerard Deulofeu (probably the best in recent times, but not a world-beater).
Samuel Eto'o (a fair punt I thought)

Not exactly a stellar list is it? Have I left out anyone?

I'm leaving out non-signings like Leandro Rodriguez, no disrespect to him.

It seems Walsh has a lot of work to do, not only to raise our profile in these markets, but I wonder if we also need to build up networks and relationships with agents etc on a scale we have not contemplated previously, not just in Europe, but further afield.

Koeman's reputation should help in the longer-term, but it seems to me we have to be far more global in outlook and the local/community emphasis the club has, as admirable as that is in some respects, has to be overhauled.
Under both Moyes and Martinez we did very well in the transfer market all told. Probably much more higher success rates than others.

There's no miracle cure needed on the recruitment front.

No mate.

Deffo not Hart, surely? And I thought the Witsel rumours died a death ages ago, along with Schneiderlin and maybe Mata too.

But ok....

Not really in my opinion.

Gana has been ace, Williams looks assured and Bolaise is doing well, as is Stekelenburg.

Sure we always want more, but what football fan doesn't?

I agree, love the Williams signing. Just feel a bit...meh about it all after thinking we'd be signing the likes of Witsel and Mata.

Oh well, it's not all doom and gloom might sign someone tomorrow.

Here he is guys. Our new signing. You've been saying you want someone like him all summer.

At this stage, I'd go all out for a quality striker and Creative Mid, as we are an injury away from a considerable drop in quality in those area's, especially if McCarthy is off.
