No mate, someone earlier proposed Anichebe as a back up striker. I was merely stating that Big Vic would likely be welcomed back with open arms by most on here but that whilst he would fulfill the 'marquee signing status' so many crave, his proneness to injury leaves me doubtful as to his suitability

....plus he's not very good.

Something I find very striking is that we have a very patchy record, at best, of signing directly from clubs outside England, in terms of the ultimate success of those signed, and the paltry frequency of the signings. Off the top of my head, in the last few years;

Shani Tarashaj (unfair to judge)
Oumar Niasse (!)
Funes Mori (moderate success)
Mo Besic (flattered to deceive for me)
Aiden McGeady (!)
Gerard Deulofeu (probably the best in recent times, but not a world-beater).
Samuel Eto'o (a fair punt I thought)

Not exactly a stellar list is it? Have I left out anyone?

I'm leaving out non-signings like Leandro Rodriguez, no disrespect to him.

It seems Walsh has a lot of work to do, not only to raise our profile in these markets, but I wonder if we also need to build up networks and relationships with agents etc on a scale we have not contemplated previously, not just in Europe, but further afield.

Koeman's reputation should help in the longer-term, but it seems to me we have to be far more global in outlook and the local/community emphasis the club has, as admirable as that is in some respects, has to be overhauled.

no need to worry, we would have had a reasonable reason to pull the plug, if we have done, than "you took too long". There's no way we'd pull it if we weren't absolutely sure we could get another striker. We would have just left the offer lingering if that were the case.

a) not surprised, we are probably only looking to get one forward in and want it to be Gabbiadini but Napoli might fail to get a replacement, pull the plug late tomorrow night and we are left with nothing.
b) or we have secretly snared someone else in the past hour and no longer want him!
OR we are telling Napoli it is time to #$%& or get off the pot......

Etoo was from Chelsea.
Mirallas was a good signing few years ago.
