Transfer Rumour Lamine Kone

In relation to the rumours linking us with Abdennour, is it not possible that he could be a replacement for Jagielka?

I know Koeman indicated yesterday that Jags would be staying but it is public knowledge that Moyes would like him up at Sunderland.

We want Koné, Sunderland want Jags. Whilst Jags is a bit of a fan favourite he is no longer at the level that he once was and is on the decline. I am sure that Koeman will be aware that.

However, Koeman said that we were short of numbers at centre back. That is correct. But if he lets Jags leave and brings in Abdennour and Koné we have added a centre back since last season. It might be also good business getting something for Jags whilst we can, even though that may just be a reduction in the Koné fee.

Zat, you're talking utter plop lad. You have noise how Koulibaly and Carvalho would adapt to this league, you're going off the odd game you watched them and a couple of YouTube clips.

If kone and gueye had come from a European team with a £20m+ process rage you'd be over the moon and telling everyone how great they are.

Kone massively impressed me when we played them up there, he dominated our forward line and bullied them to hell

Bolasie, I'm not a fan but if he plays how koeman wants him to them I'm hoping to be shocked and getting vaulted to hell on here.

Actually im fine with Kone. I dont remember him other than the goals he scored against us which were pathetic....

Williams also fine....good leader also.

HOWEVER the key word is EXPECTATIONS

If we signed as i suggested would your expectations have been met? I think most fans expectations wouldnt have been and as such im not impressed overall.

Think Esk said that he has less say, and by this time next year will probably have very little to nothing?

Anyway, wrong thread for this :)

In transfer matters it has been said he has no dealing mate, at least i am almost certain thats been said regarding transfers IN to the club - think it was also said he has a bit of dealings with the ones out still which is diminishing, but theres been at least a couple of comments recently that 'unless Moyes and i believe Koeman are lying' shows that Kenwright is still involved in negotiating on incomings in at least some of them anyways (with Moyes it can possibly be understood due to the relationship in the past

..and williams is the perfect replacement for jags, seems unlikely but you never know

fair enough mate.

I was under the impression he did have some involvement, but just less. I could have made that up completely like

Wouldn't swear down on it but pretty sure what i typed was more or less correct mate, the man himself can explain better if needed like (which honestly i don't see much point on picking over specifics etc really)

I feel like we are rebuilding the team now, so it would surprise me if we spent big. I doubt we will see any amout of big name transfers until the core of our project is sound. Maybe only someone like Mata in this window, because we sorely lack a real playmaker, and have for a while. So, we probably need another CB and striker before Koeman starts even concidering 'luxury players'. Or is the likes of Slimani a luxury player?

Surely, given that they have signed 3 centre backs in this window and already have Kabul, o Shea and Lamine Kone, at least 1 central defender will be out the door, unless they are going to play 6 at the back?!

I think Moyes is bluffing... Trying to get more cash

honestly I think this is still on, look at it from his pov

yerh he'll get offered a new contract in September, but how good it will be remains to be seen
not only that but sunderland are running a debt of about 140m so they'll be tempted to cash in, plus wont be too keen on too good of a deal

Kone won't be impressed by the "promise" of a new contract which, if it even materialises, will not be anywhere near as good as the buckets of money we are offering him.
Plus, Sunderland have signed his replacements already. Given their massive debt, I think they are bluffing and trying to force the price up.

He also has a terrible negotiating position in September.

If Sunderland offer him a deal that he doesn't like, what does he do? He can't join us after the window closes.

If he thinks what they are offering him is crap, he rejects it and stays on his current contract. Best case scenario is he forces through a move in September.

He will want the deal sorting now whilst he can play Sunderland off against Everton. Doesn't seem Sunderland want to so that.
