Either kone gets the contract now and signs it or he is off.

Simply a ploy by the club promising one but not actually delivering it before they are then forced to sell the player as he wants to go. Happens all the time, just means he will be an everton player soon.

Dunno mate, I know that phone interview was jarg but he said in that he wanted a new deal, and said upon transfer request he wanted and was promised one to force Sunderland's hand, now Sunderland are gonna offer him one.

Moyes is saying he gets one but only if he commits to staying until after the window shuts. In Kone's opinion, could that not equally be as much bull crap as Sunderland saying they would offer him a deal at the end of last season, which they failed to do?

Up to him now. This is definitely a case of both sides trying to make the other look bad IMO - however it ends up.

He's asked for a transfer...Moyes has said they'll discuss a new contract in September. I think this could become to be known as 'Reverse Lescott Syndrome'.
