As a winger, perhaps. However, if he does come we would probably be playing him in a similar role to how Kone played at the start of last season, where he was a sort of wide forward - which worked (even with him) because it resulted in Lukaku getting more space because the defenders had to give him some of the attention (that was otherwise all on Rom)*.

Bolasie would be a considerable upgrade in that role because he is bigger, faster and more direct than Kone is; him and Lukaku (or him, Lukaku and Deulofeu on the other side) would result in a much quicker, much more direct style than what we had last season (and what we have seen in this pre-season) and we would all see the benefit of it quite soon.

* of course that did require the left back to have a lot of speed to cover most of that flank - which Galloway has, but Baines doesn't.

Kone bagged a hattrick at the start of the season.

Bolasie has scored abar 5 in 3 years.

So no. Not an upgrade

He's very quick and unpredictable, he could be a great impact player coming on against tired legs.

Palace always looked a much better side with him in it, and iirc they went on a slump when he was out of the side injured last season?

In one season. Having been injured. Also 4 assists last season to Bolasie's 3.

Hes not good.

Bolasie averages 4 assists a season. 4. £18million+ for 4 assists.

If you are just talking about last season, Kone has five league goals. As for assists, he has never played with anyone as good as Lukaku is - Palace have been playing with Wickham, Adebayor, Frazier Campbell, Gayle*, Chamakh etc up front since he has been there.

He would be better than Kone is.

* Crystanbul aside

Bolasie is poor but he's a typical Walsh signing in that he offers ONE particular attribute to a team. Looking at the signings they all do:

Williams: Leadership
Kone: Strength
Gueye: Breaks up play
Bolasie? Raw pace on the counter which will have players double up on him leaving more space for Lukaku and Barkley on the break

Connor Salmon is better than Kone.

Bolasie is nowhere near good enough for us. To a point where Palace fans think Andros Townsend will do a better job than him. Let that sink in.

And also, those list of strikers will be what we'll be signing when Rom goes if we sign this clown

Del and Lennon can do that.

Del and Lennon can do that.

They can't, though. We need someone whose presence creates space for Lukaku; Kone could do that but wasn't that good at it. Lennon is too small and teams treated Deulofeu as someone who would supply Rom rather than be an alternative target to him.

(edit) Bolasie would give us pace, height and directness. We have needed that for the past two seasons; yes £20 million is over the odds but then this is a daft season - Palace have just paid £11 million for Townsend and are about to pay £32 million for Benteke.

Honestly, I'd be a bit disappointed if we sign this lad as Palace rate him far too high in terms of price. I can get behind Williams and Kone who are both utterly boss defenders, but this lad just seems to have no end product. However it is worth noting that having his electric pace will cause teams to be stuck with either doubling up on him or on Barkley or on Lukaku, leaving the others exposed.
