It's sad when even the esk can't save us anymore

The bit where you mentioned Mourinho was cringe worthy. You knew yourself before saying it which is why you didn't give his name directly and you didn't argue with them simply because it was a foolish thing to even suggest and you knew it.

There's a difference between convincing people on here we are going for Mourinho and saying it in public.

Number 8. Whats interesting about Davies is when he first made the step up to the under 18's he played right back for a few games in the autumn of his first year as a scholar. We had Walsh who was majestic in there and Williams often played too, sometimes Ledson/Kenny played in there too.

However he was the captain of the under 16's the season and they obviously wanted him involved so he played right back and did so very competently. I wonder if that information has been passed on to Koeman.

He will be a number 8 for us long term though. It's a shame Unsworth didn't get a longer run at the back end of last season as you would have seen far more of him and I think he'd have made a big impression. He is a real Ebbrell type midfield player but with better quality on the ball. I see him being a box to box midfield player. Before that he may be moved around a little but can't imagine that will happen too much for too long.

The best way I could put it with Davies is that he ticks every box. He can pass, dribble, beat a man, tackle, intercept, head, get around the pitch, nick the ball etc. There may be lads who exceed him on some areas (Walsh for example is a far better passer with vision) but he doesn't have any obvious weaknesses. I think he will be a similar player to what we hoped McCarthy would be.

I think he looked incredible when he played. Im aware we have some top centre mids coming through but also looking at thia full england team theres openings all across defence. Hopefully if kenny connolly holgate and galloway can take their performances into the first team quality and push for a starting place they could eventually get national team recognition.....im saying this as it appears they are going through the youth levels with england and to me seem to be class.

Ridiculous reading of that interview. Those radio presenters are morons and are looking for any sort of rise that they can mock. It was a dream for them to have a fan come on and say Mourinho so they could rip them to shreds. Esk presumably knew this yet did it anyway to show first of all the ambition of Everton fans in the face of a sneering media, and secondly how our owners ambitions in the managerial market has changed. You have no proof that we didn't talk to Mourinho. Then we went and got Koeman someone else the presenters mocked as unlikely to come here.

No mate or should I say old adversary?

I knew at the time and published here that Mourinho's people had already approached us as I stated here:

The point of the call, to put it in context, was to get the message across that (i) Martinez would be fired and (ii) a new and very different Everton were evolving post Kenwright's ownership.
