is he the Portugal keeper? Thought he was absolutely turd tbh except for the final. Was flapping at all kinds in all of the group games and I watched all of their games.

A big swerve from me if the tournament was anything to go by.
Agree with this if he's the one that came out for an easy catch in the final and punches it out for a throw in.

not true, it's already at record spends. clubs have been busy, just not our club.
Hey, hey, hey. Come on now. We got this major coup.

Every club will be in constant contact with players and their agents. If the top earners at the club have doubled their wages then the agents for the other players will come calling as well.
The club will be anxious to reward some and possibly tie them down to new long term contracts, others they will be happy to let them stay as they are as these are players they would probably like to move on anyway.
In general you will see a number of new more expensive contracts signed by key players over the next number of months...if the rumoured new payscale actually comes into play.
They can come calling all they want. It won't matter because they aren't paid according to their team mates but rather the market rate. If they can find another team to pay them more then they can move on. For a club looking to improve losing them won't be a problem. In fact it will be to our benefit.

We can't start paying players more than what they are worth. That's how we would end up like Newcastle or Villa.

As much as the lack of signings is frustrating I also find it quite positive in that a new manager hasn't come in and spunked the lot on the first few players he can get his hands on. Tottenham and that lot did that with the Bale and Suarez money and it got them no were. He obviously wants to assess his squad, see what youth we have that might be included in the squad and go from there.

As I say, its frustrating in that we all want signings but encouraging that it looks like he wants the right players for the longer term view as opposed to half a dozen new faces for the squad to meet on there first day back.

You sir are in the wrong thread.
Reasonible and sensible posts are not suitible for this thread

Mike Ashley? Such was his level of due diligence in buying Newcastle United in 2007 that he was not even aware that the Northern Rock sponsorship monies had all been received upfront, nor was he aware of the outstanding transfer balances on players acquired under the previous regime.

He bought the club on a whim, it represents less than 5% of his estimated net worth, and he's employed terrible business people to run it - it's not a comparable situation in my opinion.

At the moment Ryantsev and that woman from the community side of the club are there....and the hiring of koeman which is debatable as being a good move...

Looks like being a slow burner. They certainly havent called me yet so im not 100%sold on the people running the club.

I'm trying to stay positive. We've a new owner, a new manager and, if what we're told is true - we are trying to completely restructure the way way the club is run. We don't have a DoF in place yet and that may be delaying any dealings also. There also appears to be a lot pf time and money going into the new stadium finally (again if we believe all the talk on here) and the Euro's were taking place making dealing with players harder maybe?? and of course we are only get the likes of Ross, Rom and Stones back now and Koeman may want to speak with those players before making movements in the market (Stones departure seems a case of when not if). I keep reminding myself that Rome wasn't built in a day.
That said i would have thought, if Moshiri and team really wanted to make a statement of intent then at least one major signing would have been made. The big boys are now making major movements so if we want to complete for top 4 we do need a rocket up our @rses.

In my youth it was so easy to stand up and pronounce smugly
who was sane and who was crazy, who was wrong and who was right.
Who was numbered with the angel and who saw Esk as God almighty
who was good and who was evil, who wore black and who wore white.
Now the years have taught me better, right or wrong just doesn't matter
they are just words the WUMs can scatter to hide their bloody hands
and what is truth or what's illusion, what is order or confusion
Who is winning, who is losing ?
It just depends on where you stand.

*apologies to Eric Bogle

Mate all the keepers (and, to be honest, players in general) you seem to think we should be going for are mostly the signings I'd go for on FM and never, ever in real life.

Ive never played FIFA and when i have time i play FM with fake players starting in the lowest league.

Who would you like as a GK?

For me, Leno or Rico..

Why would you say B tier signings ?
Have all the best players been snapped up in the sales ?
The transfer market is only cranking up , most of the big deals of the summer have not happened yet or are the other clubs looking at Btier signings as well from now on as well.
The longer it goes on the less likely teams are going to be willing to lose key players.

Because we've been unable to close a deal on a grade A star early on to show our intent. That would have been the trigger to attract other top drawer players who would actively want to join the club.

As it stands, we've done nothing, other than see a star player want out in John Stones and sign a reserve goalkeeper for nothing.

Currently, nothing has changed at Everton at all, which is alarming. I'm not one of those who panics needlessly, and have repeatedly said over the last two weeks that it's still early in the window - but now we're in the second half of July, our inactivity is becoming a concern. The difference between us and our supposed rivals in this 'new era' is they have established top-tier squads and didn't need to make a statement - we, on the other hand, really did need to, and we haven't.

It's not quite panic stations, but if we don't start acting in the next seven days then we're in trouble IMO. We can't go into August with our transfer activity being absolutely identical to "old" Everton.
