Should tear up his contract. State of that

is he the Portugal keeper? Thought he was absolutely turd tbh except for the final. Was flapping at all kinds in all of the group games and I watched all of their games.

A big swerve from me if the tournament was anything to go by.

Yeh he is mate.

Suppose it's just opinions. Whenever I've seen him play for Sporting he's been class. Though I do agree he can be a bit flappy at times - reminds me of De Gea before he became world class - a very good shot stopper but yeh maybe not cut out for the Prem. Do think he'd be a decent acquisition though

As much as the lack of signings is frustrating I also find it quite positive in that a new manager hasn't come in and spunked the lot on the first few players he can get his hands on. Tottenham and that lot did that with the Bale and Suarez money and it got them no were. He obviously wants to assess his squad, see what youth we have that might be included in the squad and go from there.

As I say, its frustrating in that we all want signings but encouraging that it looks like he wants the right players for the longer term view as opposed to half a dozen new faces for the squad to meet on there first day back.

I think we all agree with this, however it is so clear we need a keeper and a couple of others irrespective of youth.

One or two people on City Forums saying the Stones deal is dragging as Bony is part of it and we want City to pay some of his wages (assuming similar to Adebayor to Spurs transfer). He is supposedly on £100k a week with £20k for every game he plays and i'd have thought we could afford that now but maybe we don't want to pay him £100k a week when he hasn't exactly set the world alight.

I would like him here tbh, very similar to Lukaku but with better hold up play and can play on his own too. Both of them upfront would be such a handful.

I wouldn't think his wages would be beyond us now though.

Of course Barkley and Lukaku will need to go up but there's no reason any of the others would need to go up. We would be better moving them on and getting players that deserved those higher salaries. Currently they are being paid their market rates. e.g. We have a LB being paid 70K a week.

West Ham are paying Payet over 100K a week so other teams are paying their stars without having to pay their whole team. Once we sign better players we will pay them higher wages but we first have to sign them. Our wages will rise over a number of seasons. It won't just jump up for no reason.
Every club will be in constant contact with players and their agents. If the top earners at the club have doubled their wages then the agents for the other players will come calling as well.
The club will be anxious to reward some and possibly tie them down to new long term contracts, others they will be happy to let them stay as they are as these are players they would probably like to move on anyway.
In general you will see a number of new more expensive contracts signed by key players over the next number of months...if the rumoured new payscale actually comes into play.

haven't seen him play for Sporting mate so my opinion is solely based on the Euros which isn't always the best way to form an opinion. I just felt time after time whenever Portugal were under the cosh and a simple catch would have done the trick, he would fly off his line and attempt some of the softest punches I've seen in a long time. There were a couple in a game they drew 3-3 where he was absolutely dreadful and I was laughing with the missus saying I felt sorry for whoever club he is at lol

Like you say BT, its all about opinions ;)

Absolutely ridiculous isn't it? People actually going round calling him fat. Jesus wept.

If anything his problem is that he's too muscular. He could do with losing a few pounds, but of muscle, not fat.
Don't think anyone was calling him fat, just stocky, bulked up to much last year but looks a lot leaner since the end of last season.

Nonsense. There's a big difference between seeing them play against you under a different manager's tactics and instructions compared to seeing them in training and play in your own style.

Even Kone, Niasse, McGeady etc will be given a chance to at least show 'something'.

In business you generally know about your competitors in the market and their team....you know, its not hard to go for a job interview and highlight their weaknesses and how you would improve them....yes a bit of time may be needed to see how good they are in person but if its clear an area is lacking then you hire someone....

if we havent signed a keeper by the end of the week and i mean someone top notch then questions need to be asked.

I think regardless of what happens now, the opportunity to make a statement early has been well and truly missed, and we're probably looking at B tier signings. Furthermore, the clubs we hoped to compete with have wrapped big players up early and look miles ahead of us now.

We can play the blame game as much as we want, but ultimately we just don't know what happened. All I will say is that if we end this window with a negative net spend and only the likes of Stekelenburg as incomings, things will turn toxic quickly for Moshiri. I don't think that will happen, but as said, regardless now we're looking at a window of missed opportunity unless something drastic happens quickly.
Why would you say B tier signings ?
Have all the best players been snapped up in the sales ?
The transfer market is only cranking up , most of the big deals of the summer have not happened yet or are the other clubs looking at Btier signings as well from now on as well.

Got a link, bro?

i think i would prefer a big commanding goalkeeper for our team then a smaller jumpy roundy goalkeeper (they are scientific terms).
