This squad needs gutting. Most of the senior pros are nothing players, and only Barry could claim to have ever been a key member of a top-end team at some point.

Without four or five first team signings, I would fully expect a repeat of what we seen under Martinez.
If only there were still 45 or so days to make signings though, shame there's exactly 3 minutes left eh?

I agree. We need a few marquee signings but unfortunately it looks like we are haggling with the price and as a result are going to lose out.

Supposedly we are bidding quite high but we need to sell the players a dream....whose going to do that?

It really wasn't. It wasn't even close to the top 6. Even if you take Leicester out of the equation. Chelsea, City, Arsenal, Utd, Liverpool and Spurs are all far stronger than we are and have only improved more this summer. e.g. Spurs have signed a 19m backup striker - that's the strength of their bench. Liverpool under Klopp humiliated us and got to a Europa League final. The other 4 are in another league altogether as is shown by the fact our No 1 target is surplus to requirements over there.

We need a lot of money spent to get us competing with those teams.

Neither of those finished top six and yes while they are stronger, I don't think they have actually improved yet have they?

Liverpool have done their usual of spunking loads on an in-consistent player from the south coast, and brought in a defender who has been half-decent in Germany (in fact they're now signing another as well, who nearly got relegated with Augsburg...). They hammered a side that is possibly the worst-performing Everton team (at that time) I have ever witnessed - but a side that had totally lost faith in their manager.

Chelsea have signed Batshuayi who is a wildcard and while a good player, isn't going to win them the title. Kante is a very good signing.

Spurs have added two decent squad players...

Stop fretting about other sides. This is what's wrong with the game - fans expecting £100s of millions to be spent every summer on a load of players.

IT DOESN'T WORK!!!

We have a solid squad that has underperformed (something which is widely acknowledged).

If the price is right we'll sell a few and that will be reinvested in quality replacements, while we'll also go for players that will add to what we have and make our first team stronger.

Basically, what I'm saying is four players of top-quality (for example, Mata, Witsel, Patricio, Rolan and Koulibaly) would improve our first team massively. Spending £150mil on those five would be much better than spending £200mil on 10 squad players, IMO, just for the sake of signing somebody...

Are we rewriting history to suit ourselves now. He was talked about the same way as Koeman is.

In other words the hype machine of Everton FC in overdrive.

He had won a cup and tried to play exciting football with a team which was relegation favourites for years.

Bit more exciting than a long ball merchant who got a club into europe spending quite a lot of money in the process.

He needs to make some top signings or fans will be and should be on his back from day 1.

£7mil salary

I'd agree but not because we have no money, more to do with not getting desperate to sell him.

If we sign a load of players before Stones goes then we will need to sell to balance the books and that will weaken our position.
Surely if we have loads of money then we don't need to sell to balance the books.

15 clubs Premier League have already done significant business.

So far in terms of players we've brought in a backup keeper who to be fair is way past his best. The only thing certain this window is John Stones leaving.

And talked about how rich we are and how we're back.

Not exactly impressive is it.

Ive been told by a mate in switzerland whose seen him olay and knos a fair bit about their league that hes a number 10.

Yes he is Zat but it's like how Naismith was technically a No.10 if you base it on position. Pretty sure from what I've watched he's not a playmaker, but more of an advanced midfielder that makes late runs into the area and picks up little pockets of space in tight areas. That's what I meant when I compared him to Naismith over Barks.

If were using RS examples how about £5mil for Karius?

Theres no excuse for us not signing a keeper....

..you need to turn this in man, it's a bit odd.

Let me put it like this...you say 'There's no excuse for us not signing a keeper'.

So, a few things on that score...

Firstly - we have, cover as he may be, so your point is automatically null as it goes, partic in light of it being untrue...

Secondly - this was a subject that the last manager should have addressed a long time ago (JAN 14 by his own admission) and, frankly, him not doing so cost us gawwwd knows how many points last season.

Thirdly - and this is the biggy - no matter what sort of 'project' is on the go here we have to face facts that players may NOT wish to sign for us if other avenues are open to them. It's so easy for people to go, as they do & are '...yeah, they'll sign if the money's right...double the dough, they'll be here...' Really? Doesn't always work that way because again - sadly - there are bigger clubs - or rather perhaps more 'appealing' clubs - than us that are throwing money around at the moment...

Last time we threw money around....we got NIASSE (or what may or may not be the actual NIASSE).

The panic is utter madness at this stage. To repeat...the full squad hasn't even been together yet & we've played once, behind doors, on what looked like a school field. Pffff...

Be patient, stop kicking...you gloomy boob. ;)
