Right guys,

Starting to get myself into a habit now where i am buying fruit for breakfast rather than a bacon butty or going without. Been eating a banana, apple and plum a day and added an apricot this morning. For like 60-80p breakfast it is cheap and meant to be good for you.

So what are the best combination of fruit to eat? I don't normally get chance to eat fruit otherwise so i am adding a huge injection of the goodness it comes with rather than go without. Prefer to mix it up every now and again so what fruit is best for you and what should i be buying?

Why?

Never really get round to buying it. Can get a portion of veg with my tea every now and again sure and kids get fruit bought for them but never really borther myself. In the past half of it never gets eaten really, so buying it for breakfast is me going out my way to get eating it :)

Basically, any fruit is good for you mate, but particularly blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, grapes and oranges.

Buy pineapple as a fruit rather than tinned - much nicer and nothing added.
A bit messy cutting the outer skin off, and the core is too hard to eat and digest, but the amount of naturally sweet and refreshing 'flesh' is superb.

Don't let anyone tell you that you can eat 'too many oranges as you'll overload on Vitamin C' - it's nonsense.
The human body does not retain Vitamin C - it washes through your system inside 24 hours, so unless you were to stuff yourself stupid...

Apples are supposed to have the same 'caffeine' effect as a cup of coffee, so they're great for snacking on throughout the day.

Bananas are high in carbohydrates and potassium and as such as great for energy boosting - hence why you see tennis players cramming one down their neck at least once per set and sometimes more. The downside to bananas is they're not the best if you're on a weight loss regime.

Bear in mind there's still plenty of natural sugars in fruits, you should really try and have it with some cereal, for carbs and fibre

Said that about running myself less than a year ago, now I'm prepping for a marathon. Give it a go, you might just like it.
