Best suited in another league - this one will hunt him down. If you were an opposition manager you would focus on him both in crosses and when with the ball. He needs to learn fast or his potential will remain could have been..A move could be good for him. A new team with a crowd not craping themselves everytime he dosent boot it out. Under pep who has progressed pique and boetang, probably the 2 best ball playing centre backs around behind ambrose
Spot on mateJags is a far superior defender. He was untouchable in 2009 and but for an horrific knee injury I believe we would have won the cup. Football is so here and now it is easy to forget just how good he was at his peak.
I would also point out that the year we finished 4th we had Stubbs and Weir as centre half's. No cruyff turns or dribbles from the back, but loads of clean sheets.
A defender should defend.
Perfect summary of the situation. Our circumstances have changed somewhat since this time last year, best for all concerned if he wants to go. Good luck to him, I'm more excited about who may be incoming, onwards and forwards. He is a lovely footballer without any doubt but he is a long way from being a truly top class defender. The first attribute does not necessarily make the other. It might in time, but it will require a change in the management and coaching offered to him and his own attitude as to what is acceptable and what is pragmatic. Good luck to him.

Thinking the same mate, nothing on SSN.Only source the Echo?
