A move could be good for him. A new team with a crowd not craping themselves everytime he dosent boot it out. Under pep who has progressed pique and boetang, probably the 2 best ball playing centre backs around behind ambrose
Best suited in another league - this one will hunt him down. If you were an opposition manager you would focus on him both in crosses and when with the ball. He needs to learn fast or his potential will remain could have been..

I would rather he stays but hey ho if his heart isn't with Everton then get as much as possible

Jags is a far superior defender. He was untouchable in 2009 and but for an horrific knee injury I believe we would have won the cup. Football is so here and now it is easy to forget just how good he was at his peak.

I would also point out that the year we finished 4th we had Stubbs and Weir as centre half's. No cruyff turns or dribbles from the back, but loads of clean sheets.

A defender should defend.
Spot on mate

Not arsed, well overrated

would be what i said if i was trying to make myself feel better

the reality is i'll be gutted to see him go as he will without doubt become one of the best players in the world, he's utterly boss and half a bad season doesn't override how awesome he was prior to that dip in form.

he's ace and seems like a good lad, can't blame him for wanting out after the train wreck of last season and the prospect of huge wages and pep managing him.

He is a lovely footballer without any doubt but he is a long way from being a truly top class defender. The first attribute does not necessarily make the other. It might in time, but it will require a change in the management and coaching offered to him and his own attitude as to what is acceptable and what is pragmatic. Good luck to him.
Perfect summary of the situation. Our circumstances have changed somewhat since this time last year, best for all concerned if he wants to go. Good luck to him, I'm more excited about who may be incoming, onwards and forwards.

50mill? I personally reckon go to town on them and ask for more. If they want him that bad, with all the money in the world that they've got, they'll pay up.

If he does go for the quoted 50mill, City will have a paid us a total of 86million for Stones, Lescott and Rodwell

He was kept out of the England team for 100% of the tournament, every minute, by Chris Smalling and Gary Cahill. They are nothing more than average players, but they can do their job ie defend, Stones can't. He's a liability and unless Guardiola can coach that out of him quickly then he'll be a very expensive mistake.

If he wants to go our hands are tied. Just get the most cash we can out of the transfer. And I wish all the bad luck in the world on his move down the road.
