Stones tells Everton he wants Man City transfer

We could get two decent center backs with change to spare

Let him go as long as the price is right so anything north of 50m will do

It isnt about needing the cash for players, its about needing the profit to fund the wages under the new TV deal rules. I am 100% certain that is why we dug in last summer until the take over was confirmed. And I am also 100% certain that once we did dig in, the reason was probably explained in a quiet way to the relevant parties involved.

Gone to his head - and while he is and does have great potential it's not realised and won't be unless his attitude changes. Now we can blame the previous regime but the best defenders have the basics already there and stones fundamentally is not an agressive defender - which is needed for this league.

Christ.

Not particularly bothered by this. We need to sell to get around these financial rules to bring people in, fund wages etc. Much easier to replace than selling Rom. All the best lad.

Lots of might, maybe and could be underpinning this, all about his potential to develop and not being the inconsistent defender he is now. If Stones thinks that the worrying aspects of his defensive game are suddenly going to disappear by going to City he might be in for a shock, as might City if they think they are signing someone close to the finished article. It could turn out brilliantly for Stones and City, it might not, or take a few more years.

Is his transfer request still active ?

Do we have to give him any loyalty payments etc if it's not active and we accept a bid ?

Hope Barnsley buy Osman and Hibbert with their windfall.

Im sorry I dont buy this, not having a go, I just dont think the takeover was even thought of this time last Summer.

We kept him cos we could and mainly cos Jose was being a prize trumpet.

We probably said "Give us 12months John, if we havent "improved" you can go", we then finished 11th, AGAIN.

Granted this all just inside my head like.

For me the lad kept his head down and never once went missing, our defence last season was an utter joke and it would be so easy to just pin it all on Martinez, but thats what im doing, it was 100% Martinezs fault.

I will be gutted to see him go, watching him play football is a joy, watching him play football for Everton has been even better, I look forward to watching him become the best defender of his generation, statues will be made.

Goodbye John.

Been thinking the exact same thing since The Esk explained this STCC thingy
