How is leaving Cahill out suicidal? And even worse, why would people play him in a 4 man midfield!?

This thread depresses me because of our current situation but:

Howard

Neville
Distin
Jags
Baines

Pienaar (RW)
Rodwell (CM)
Arteta (CM)
Bily (LW)
Fellaini (AMC)

Saha

Benitez would leave Gerrard out? Whoever the Chelsea coach is leaving Lampard out? Ferguson leaving Rooney on the bench?

Who bangs them in? Who punches up the corner flag? Who is the most influential, best header of a ball, man you most want sitting next to you when those bombs go off? Who is teaching young Fellaini how to play in the Premier League? Who puts on the shirt week in week out and bleeds blue harder and longer than any blue before him?

We cant put him in a four man midfield????

Holy mother of sweet baby Jesus you have to get a midfielder as good as him to step up, not replace him with two other guys!

First name on the team sheet IMO.

IMO.

Gerrard and Lampard score twenty goals a season and are usually top of the charts when it comes to creating goals for there teams. Cahill's an important player, he's been excellent for us, but he's nowhere near as important to us as the likes of Lampard and Gerrard are to there teams.

He's an excellent player when he's got creative midfielders behind him, as he proved throughout his Everton career. When he's expected to do it for himself and provide for others he simply can't do it, as this poor run of form has shown.

Arteta and Pienaar are more important to us now, when these players are playing you want Cahill playing, because he's clearly an excellent weapon to have. I'd have him over Fellaini, at the moment.

His best days are behind him. He's a technically VERY limited player, who offers increasingly little to the team. I thank him for what he's done in the past few years, a great servant for the club but he's starting to go down the hill, without doubt.

He doesn't offer the same impact, especially from the start.

Comparisons to Gerrard and Lampard, even in the sense of their importance to the club and not their quality, are laughable.

As I say, chuffed with what he's done but I would increasingly use him from the bench.

No wonder Lescott left with even the Doctor on his case. Has Pienaar even scored any goals for us? Does he even have a celebration? And Arteta? How can he be more important to us on the treatment table. A poor run of form can happen to anyone. I didnt see Gerard do anything yesterday, and Torres just buzzed around like an annoying fly. And they seem to be 'more important players' for their teams??

Wow. Just Wow. Do you support our players? Or do you smile and cheer them and as soon as they turn around knife them one in the ribs and steal their money? If Timmy is reading this is heart had just smashed into a million pieces. He's 29, not 35. You are more fickle than a wafer thin chocolate wafer made with the lightest kind of toffee. You'd jump ship faster than a wealthy raconteur on the Titanic. You put Gerrard and Lampard on a shining pillar of gold and you trample Cahill into the dirt and tell him to lick your shoes while he's down there.

That you would put someone who's played a couple of games and still feeling their way into the league and a kid ahead of the best player we have had at this club, a man who is THE top scorer for us thats on our books....

Lien, the smiling assassin, Im shocked.

He's 30 btw.

You obviously didn't read the bits where I praised him for what he's put in for the club in the past few years. Are you one of those who stick their fingers in their ears whenever criticism comes the way of someone who has played for us for a while?

I said his importance for us is dwindling. This obviously infers he was a very important player for us, which he was. Whilst he still rightly plays a part for us, IMO it should be increasingly from the bench.

My best 11 definitely would have Pienaar on left and Billy Boy on right midfield, not the other way around.
Neiler's starting 11 looks like a right one... if Neville can still go as right back (I have my doubts).

I'm beginning to think that we have a better chance of signing Iniesta, Messi, and Kaka before we ever have a fully fit squad.

Howard
Neville Jagielka Distin Baines
Pienaar Fellaini Arteta Bilyaletdinov
Yakubu Saha

Fellaini has shown some promise last 4-5 games. If he keeps it up, I'd have no problem against him being in centre mid.

Yakubu and Saha would cause a lot of problems for most teams.

Solid back 4.

Howard
neill jags distan baines
arteta johnny h
bily pienaar
yak saha

I know leaving out cahill and fellaini is dodgy just want to see haw creative and have a go this line up would be. I know if pip is fit he starts, but neills passing seems to be excellent the little bit ive seen of him.

Neill's passing seems to be excellent? Are you sure you don't mean Neilatinga?

Neill's distribution from the back is absolutely woeful. He can't make a simple pass.

As i said only seen a bit of him but when he started he always tries to find someone rather than whack it up the pitch like yobo.
