Not to sure lads, but whipped this of the Os - thought he could play after the groups myself:

Unfortunately, Heitinga will be unable to play for Everton in the Blues' Europa League Group Stage games having already featured for Atletico in the Champions League play-off round earlier this season. Should Everton progress though, he could figure in the latter stages of the competition.

He could have played after the group stages if Atletico didn't finish third. But they did so he can't.

Relevant section from 'Regulations of the UEFA Europa League 2009/10:
18.18 One player from the above quota of three who has played UEFA club competition matches for another competing club in the current season may exceptionally be registered provided that the player has not been fielded:
- in the same competition for another club,
- for another club that is currently in the same competition.

Furthermore, if the player’s new club is playing in the UEFA Europa League, his former club must not have played in the UEFA Europa League at any point in the current season.

Since Heitinga played for Atletico and they will be 'another club that is currently in the same competition' we can't add him to the roster.

All the rules and regulations can be found here on the right hand side:

I'd be ecstatic if someone shows me I'm wrong but I don't think that's going to happen. :(

Heitinga

He had a chance to throttle Gerrard and Anichebe took one for the team.

In a derby of few plus points perhaps Heitinga could have stood up to Gerrard;

Thoughts?

Personally I though Anichebe looked like a child doing what he was doing. Heitinga is a pro and knew that the ref was looking to even it up. Cool head is what you need.

Bit surprised by this opinion to be fair mate.

what do you mean 'stood' up to?? The way I take it you wanted him to take a cheap shot, and I say no. Nothing ruins the game more than dirty play and cheap shots.

It's 4 am here.

I've been drinking with people from 3 different continents.

LOL.

I raised an eyebrow at the screen. Trust me that's all I did.

A jolly disappointing match and no mistake.

To be fair, we did that all game....Pienaar and Fellaini should've been sent off....one was eventually (cos the ref was a nobhead) and the other is injured.

But we went out to break legs today...which I liked
