He´s not giving up more delusional stuff in the echo:

“There is 12 points to play for,” he said.

“I feel we are a special football club.

“I draw inspiration from big, big figures from our football club and no-one more than Howard Kendall who always said as a football club we react in the best possible way. “Facing adversity today our second-half performance is exactly that.

“We all feel hurt and disappointed we are not in the final but we gave everything we have got and we should all help each other finish the season as well as we can.

“We are not in a situation of crisis or chaos, fighting relegation.

“We are talking of disappointment because we have not the chance to finish high in the table. But we see young players developing quickly and understanding the big expectations to be a team that always competes in the late stages of competitions and always competes to get to Wembley. We want to get to the CL positions.”

Martinez has been faced with growing hostility from Everton supporters in recent weeks and after the Blues finished a “defining” week with two defeats, the manager concedes he must battle to stay in the job.

“I understand that,” Martinez said.

“We are a big club.

“You don’t expect it any other way.

“If I had been given 10 years to work with Everton by being mediocre I would not accept that. We are a big club with big expectations and we have not won silverware for 21 years.

“I just want to believe with the work I have done for the last three years there are signs there that we are getting close to challenge for silverware and where Everton should be.

“We developed young players, gave them big roles, and they reacted and showed character, flair and drive in the biggest football arena. In the first season we had the record number of points in the Premier League and in the second the experience of Europe.

“We gave young players big roles and have not invested money but managed assets.

“We were very unfairly stopped from being in the League Cup final and that never stopped us wanting to come to Wembley.

“There are signs in the three years I could have earned the opportunity to drive the club forward and I am sure we can fulfil our expectations and fulfil the dreams of every Evertonian.

“I am very much attached to it.”

Everton’s next game arrives on Saturday afternoon when they take on Bournemouth.

An irate fan ran onto the pitch and hurled abuse at Martinez during their last home game with Southampton but the Blues boss is not concerned about angry reception on Saturday.

Instead, Martinez says he is focused only on winning the game.

“There is 12 points to play for,” he said.

“I feel we are a special football club.

Right - as earlier there was no meeting today at FF and he was not sacked. Situation has changed within the last hour and RM has RESIGNED - Orly / Mout you can hunt me down tomorrow if this isn't confirmed. To be fair to RM he has shown at least a dignity - must have realised the tidal wave of fan opinion.

How longs he holding onto this resignation letter for

he is utterly utterly dilusional

I genuinely can't believe @davek has gone into hiding, I thought he'd stick to his guns and be loyal no matter what

The vaulting that could be had on here.

It was for the good of the forum mate would have been utter utter carnage with bannings everywhere. He was already getting #theentertainers every post he made while he was still here the poor sod.

How about we focus on Everton/Martinez/Moshiri etc rather than other posters.

Carry on and you are in off topic territory.

His public defiance worries me. I know, 'what do you expect him to say', but I worry that his bravado is because he's been told his job is safe.

The crazy thing is he truly believes hes done a great job! One good season and two terrible ones, including achieving our worst ever home record in our 137 year history. The man is crackers.

Ye have to laugh at some of the shouts from the former 'Martinez inners'. Still hanging on by saying they think he has what it takes and is good enough but has to go cause the crowd will be too toxic. K'off will ye, jesus, let it go. Admit you were wrong. Blaming everything else till the bitter end.

Missed you out on the multi-quote - focus on the issues not other posters

Will be announced soon mate but it's done.

Very clear to - he has gone / resigned perhaps the players need to be told first and no doubt certain behind the scenes etc. No idea were the quoted 7pm press conference came from. Either way he has gone and Everton will soon announce.

Your credibility is stretched to the limit, either use caveats in your posts or seek better sources before posting.

Not invested, just lol at that

He's got a net spend of £30m across his 3 seasons at the club.

Moyes had a net spend of £10m over his 11 years, which given the multiple top 7 finishes, is incredible in hindsight.

For Martinez to say he's had no money is a bare faced lie.
