As a Martinez apologist, I have to concede, I really do. The toxicity towards him is too far gone.

The standard of available candidates is low. By Christ, how I wish Bilic was gettable. Honesty and dignity sum him and our club up and would have been the perfect marriage. I find myself erring towards Nigel Pearson.

We now have a new ambitious owner and therefore we are entering a new era with high expectations for this great historic football club. It's nothing personal but unfortunately you don't meet these high expectations. Thanks for the work you have done and good luck with your future adventures. Bye Bobby ... and we move on.

The longer the club leaves it the more it's going to get unbearably toxic and get extremely personal between the fans and the manager. It's going to turn nasty.

Another scenario is they announce in the next day or so that Bobby will be be leaving at the end of the season by "mutual consent".

Which I suppose is sensible enough in that the fans will be glad to hear the end is in sight and Bobby is spared the humiliation of being sacked.
