Keeping a dead man walking in situ for the last few weeks isn't the way to go here.

Just agree the terms of his departure and get rid tomorrow, so we close the Martinez chapter and ensure that every manager who might fancy it is aware of the vacancy that we need to fill - preferably before the players depart on their summer holidays / Euros duty.
Ambitious club would have sacked him before the semis. We sleepwalked into the Wembley and oh what an suprise...we lost.
Sack the fraudster and start new chapter in the history of this club.

Doesn't really strike me as an " everton" type thing to sack him

  1. It will be 'mutual'
  2. It will be during the close season

Bry, we've sacked plenty of managers, mid-season too. Walter Smith the most recent

Getting to two semi finals and losing them means absolutely nothing, it's small time thinking.

To be fair,on paper getting to two semi finals wouldn't look that bad if we thought that there were signs of some serious progression, such as claiming a Europa League place and playing some exciting football

The fact that we have been looking over out shoulders nervously at the teams near the bottom of the table just isn't good enough.

This season just seemed to fall apart after Bournemouth's injury time equaliser.

I don't think that would make a difference. He will leave after last game anyway now there's nothing to play for. Any manager currently employed will be focusing on their clubs and in the case of Pellegrini for arguments sake he can start negotiations the day after.

No manager bar Jose is available now and we aren't taking one on until 1st June so there isn't much rush I don't think to hurry it along.

The fans just want a statement though, an official statement and they can appease the 40 000 going the game that Martinez is not rebuilding for next season.

Yeah, we need the other shoe to drop - if just for our peace of mind

Definitely I'm still pissed they didn't sack him a good ten days before the semi. We had a great chance of winning the cup without him being there.

This is just like the Howard situation to be honest, at end it wasn't the players fault it was the managers for not acting for over 12 months. Board are the same here, Manager is out of his depth and they should have taken action.

It wouldn't make a footballing difference, as the season is now over.

But that isn't the point. Not sacking him before the Bournemouth game now would send out a horrid message that failure and massive underperformance is completely acceptable at Everton.

We desperately need to send the message out to our fans, our players and any prospective signings that this season has been awful, and a manager who performs as such won't be tolerated. Because otherwise we're settling for mediocrity - or worse.

Sacking him immediately is the difference between having the mindset of a big club with pride, and being an irrelevance with none.

Mass protesting will be needed. We need to stop acting like it's a bad, or kopite thing to do. If you stand and take mediocre rubbish for years you will be continually fed it year on year. Until we stop accepting gross underachievement we will achieve nothing.

If the fans need to hound him out then so be it. He will leave with 10m quid over three years or something crazy. Certainly won't be feeling sorry for him. It's not like joe bloggs down the road losing his job and having to sign on the brew. It's a multi millionaire failure.

Just don't go, vote with your feet. The club will get the message. There will be loads of empty seats at Goodison next week, unless he's gone.
