I think if we had a top LW and started with Deulofeu their defence would have been unable to push up especially the full backs....too much danger from our front 4 then. But having Clev/Lennon with 2 DMs just invites teams to attack us.

For an attacking manager the lineup and lineups recently have been feeble.
And predictable. Made LVG look like a tactical genius instead of the moron he is !

Does anyone seriously know whether we are able to get refund of season tickets before first game of season?!

Only got back at 3 am

Why at one point was Baines at centre midfield and Jags left back?!

Still don't understand why Barkley was shoehorned on the left and cleverley in the middle in the first half

I heard the players played they're own game second half don't know how true it is but they did look better second half

I think he should probably resign today, he basically said in his press conference the other day forget about the league, this season is all about the cups. Well we're out now so therefore you have failed in what you set out to achieve, at the expense of league form. Please acknowledge this by packing your bags and [Poor language removed] off

He genuinely seemed to have a few tears in his eyes at the start of the game, and his post-game presser seemed to suggest a man that wants to continue his work.

The club has two options here.
  1. Announce the boards full support of the manager, and we as fans get behind him and the team for the remainder of the season.
  2. Sack him, and put someone else in charge until the summer.
That being said, I think the board needs to come under question here. @The Esk claimed that Martinez was made aware of his sacking in advance - which as a supporter really bothers me. Without doubt the players were made aware of his pending departure, and performances since have been abject.

LVG is in the final and could get top 4 and already been replaced by Jose.

I bet we haven't even started looking at alternatives and when we do it will be likes of Moyes, Hughes and etc.

Never want to see Moyes here again, he´s as bad as Martinez but without the charm. People seem to forget we had plenty of bad seasons under him as well.

I want a proper quality manager now.

Sorry, why are you discounting any transfer of 5 million and below as money not actually spent?

Its nof "money not spent" bit ir highlights that hes not had backing to make signings of reasonable amounts.

Look at the midfield for example:

RW-- Lennon £4.5mil / Deulofeu £4.2mil
DM -- Barry £0 / Besic £2.5 (rising to £4mil
DM -- McCarthy £13mil
LW -- Cleverley £0 / Kone £5mil

Thats £29.2mil for 7 players there which works out to be £4.1mil per player. Thats overall quite amazing value really i think.

Off the top of my head hes built that from Mirallas,Osman,Gibson,Pienaar and done so without any sizeable outgoing transfers from MF (if fellaini counts as a more forward player like barkley).

Personally, i would say that if were going for champions league we need to be keeping the likes of Cleverley,Besic,McCarthy,Deulofeu and adding another amount of £29.2mil+ to bring in top quality in midfield.

Our only notable signing has been McCarthy in middield based on £££ but now we need to spend far bigger amounts to get the quality needed.

£5mil on punts/squad players or stopgaps is nothing these days....

Remember when Bill gave Martinez an award after just one season...when their were plenty of actual legends he could have chosen

Hopefully he's made to return it when he was sacked

I heard the players played they're own game second half don't know how true it is but they did look better second half

Once the pen was saved we started pressing from the front and driving forward at pace by ditching the sideways/backwards passing* also RM finger based dance move on the touch line seemed to get noones attention. To be at least that seemed proof that they played their own game.

*except on occasion Ross who seemed to slow it down with little backwards passing. Whoever comes in will have to work hard to free him from the "coaching" he's received over the past three years.

@The Esk claimed that Martinez was made aware of his sacking in advance -

That's not quite what I said - I said he was aware a replacement was being sought, being sacked and ending contracts by mutual agreement are two quite different matters.

I would argue that the performance levels on the pitch are what they are because he is still here, not because of concerns over his future.
