I've described two instances earlier (with Fellaini) when there was a need. There was no excuse for him to stand idly by.
No excuse whatsoever.
You criticise martinez for his system but not barkley for sticking rigidly to it?
There. Now you've got it.
That's exactly right. I'm not going to criticise an employee for doing his job as told by his manager. Instead, I'll criticise the manager for being an idiot and not going with another option when his initial strategy fails.
Nah Hobbits are weakAnd my dad could beat up your dad too.
Of course. But we don't defend from the front in that way. We have two defensive midfielders and hold shape until the opposition come into our half. Then we press and counter. That's how we defend.
So again, Barkley doesn't defend from the front, as he shouldn't be, because we don't do it.
It's not like I'm making any of this up; they're all very obvious facts. The reality is you're wanting to see something from a player that he can't do in the system his manager employs. We don't press high, and we don't use Barkley in any defensive capacity whatsoever. So it comes down to criticising him for doing his job - which is to move into space, be available for the ball when we are in possession, and distribute intelligently with it to supporting players.
As I suspected.
Those instances I described, if he'd shifted himself he could have easily disposessed Fellaini.
But you think it's ok for him not to bother, so I don't think I'll bother explaining the reality of the situation anymore.
Just think guys Ross is still young.
So he can basically stand in space in the oppositions half with his hands on his hips when they have the ball waiting for us to win it back and pass it to him whilst in space?
Thats our system?
