It really isn't that. I've been advocating his sacking for a long time, and I'll shed no tears when he is eventually sacked. I just think that with the end of the season being so near, why not wait until the end of the season? But I now realise that the reverse is also true, why keep him when the end of the season is so near? Sacking him now or at the end of the season will make little difference imo.
for the fans mate.

The board can tell the fans in one action that what is happening isn't good enough for the club. We don't need to win another game all season ,god forbid we will make a hard job of that already. It just tells the fans right now, or sunday or monday or whenever it is, martinez won't be here from next season.

Actually think of the lift we would all have if that message was sent out to everyone? Right now there are fans still thinking we will win the cup and keep him, just knowing we will be looking for a new manager, will make the rest of the season much more enjoyable for the fans. Stick royle/unsworth/sheedy/ferguson/the kit man for all i care in charge, put a few kids in and around the matchday team, and just see the difference in mood around this place.

He is stinking the place out! I cannot see any benefit of keeping him any longer than today.

Firing him will lift the players spirits hopefully and give them some new vigour.

I say that in jest to my dad all the time and I'm 27. I went to my first game in '96. Never seen us win a thing. I had it a lot worse than the young lads do now though overall but I don't think I ever had to witness anything so bad as that last night. That was worse than anything Smith or Moyes ever served up.

It's an absolute joke mate, another thing that guts me, the footy I've watched with me Dad down the years... And I've NEVER had a celebratory drink with me arl fella after a trophy win! I've never been (Legal :D) drinking age! I really was a spoilt 80's child, I thought it would always be like that... How wrong was I :(

It doesn't matter who's in charge, we'll beat Manure and go on to win the Cup.

You know, I used to have that faith. In fact I think earlier on in the week, I argued that it was a cup game, Martinez is a cup manager. It could all still fall into place.

Sorry mate, the stars aren't going to align on this one. Anyone who witnessed last night, can't come away from that with any other conclusion other than, we're just not simply good enough as a team or with the existing manager to beat a rejuvenated Van Gaal, Manchester United.

Miracles do happen, and in that sense we have a chance. However, at this stage I have to agree, sacking him would be the best option and appointing an intermediary team. Although I'm not convinced it wouldn't make a difference, primarily because the damage has been done, it would still be the best option at this stage.

Also it would speak volumes about our club. Saying feck you, we have our motto and we live by it. This isn't good enough.

Niasse what an appalling signing this has been. Buying from the Russian league in January was always going to be a disaster and for £13.5million!!

Pretty sure he is George Weah's cousin.

The funny thing is though, he could actually be a good player, but because of the way Martinez has handled the whole situation, he has actually destroyed the lad before he's had a chance to kick a ball in anger.

Weak manager weaker board ( moshri ) I can't comment on yet. To hire a manager who relegates a team alone is crazy. Ok first season aside was good. But to not won a game in how long? Not beat a side in the top 7 have a shambolic home record? - but most importantly results have been scandalous the players don't wanna know. But he's still manager because are board is weak and lack any ambition or backbone.

The toxicity towards Martinez is palpable. It feels almost perverse to be going into an FA Cup semi-final where we haven’t stood a better chance of winning a trophy in years, with such an atmosphere amongst our support. Despite the poor league campaign, I remain confident that Martinez can deliver the Cup. There is every chance that we will set a precedent by being the first club in the English top-flight (to my knowledge) to sack their manager in a trophy winning season. After waiting so long for some silverware, this thought saddens me, it really does.
