Mate IF you could write 2 dream scenarios for mEverton, 1 would have been an owener who actually understands football, was ambitious and who had the connections and finances to realize that ambition - we now have that it looks like

Second would be a Manager who has ambition, is a winner, who could take us to another level completely both on and off the field and finally break the plucky little everton media stereotype, who effectively smashes the glass ceiling on where we should aim to be as a club to actual bits - Mourinho is the only manager who would do that immediately

Varane at Madrid was brought into the first team by Mourinho and trusted mate, no doubt about that he would do the same with Stones, the popcorning he would do to the media alone about players leaving would be gold.

Generally a good rule of thumb about anything is that if the media want you to think a certain way the its better to think the exact opposite, they wouldn't want us to have him - makes me want him more
I guess you well worded bag of tricks have got me leaning towards jose now haha

to be honest i'm self confessed ignorant when it comes to who should manage everton, just not martinez or moyes is as far as that takes me lol but you do sell a good argument for Jose and if there was a remote chance of it happening then as you put well, it would not necessarily be a bad thing for us to pursue.

I just hope if this was all to happen that the club could put a statement of intent down instantly. Unveil Jose, public vote to stay from lukaku and a top signing all within a short space of time. Get all of that and the public perception would be a joy to watch.

Yep I reckon Lukaku would definitely stay another season with Mourinho in charge.

i think he would stay with a top manager appointment at least.

think he wants to leave because the team isn't going anywhere, that is understandable considering the current circumstances. But you get a Jose for example, you aren't just saying your ambitious, but you are backing a method to be so as well. Like if we got AVB / De Boer type managers it is still up in the air whether they could essentially take us that far or not, but with mourhinio or pelegrini or someone like that, it is putting your intentions down quite clear where you intend to end up.

Agreed mate.

We'd win a few derbies under him, no question. He'd give us the mental edge and snide we've been desperate for in those games

This may last long after his departure. There's no denying we simply don't have a winning culture at the club.

Everything mourinho does revolves around winning full stop.

If we somehow manage to convince him to Take the job he may not want too change too much away from the first team & as such we can keep a clear structure at finch farm sheedy, joe royle, unsworth the new American.

Maybe even hibbert & Osman can be integrated at some level within the club.

Jose will probably only be interested in first team matters. It's a different debate wether this is good or bad but personally with my limited knowledge I dont believe the finch farm structure needs too much changing.

Just to add to this he may not have brought through many at Chelsea but they have just retained the youth champions league. Granted our youth structure isn't as successful but there are budgetary differences to consider & my point really is he didn't destroy there system.

I will eat my socks if we get Mourinho, I just cannot see it but would be delighted if proved wrong. Back on planet earth it looks like the odds on Martinez getting the sack are shortening by the day and there seem to be a few rumours emerging that he knows he is on his way, as I mentioned yesterday, someone who is more often right than wrong reckons all will be revealed next week.

I'm in mate. I thought long and hard about what we need for our next manager. We all agree we need a winner, we need someone who makes everyone sit up and take notice. We need someone who gets results, we need someone who will give us all a massive lift.

I like Pellegrini, I think he's acquired himself very well since it was confirmed Pep was taking over so he would be another option. But whilst Mourinho is still available we should be taking a firm interest in seeing if he wants to come to us and I wouldn't be surprised if that's already happened.

Put it this way, if Moshiri was in charge of Arsenal and they had another season of failure ( in their terms ) and Wenger left, you could pretty much better your last dollar he would be straight in for him, so why can't we.

Mourinho is the dream
Pelligrini is someone i'd be more than happy with though as well mate, very much like Ranierri he is a mnager who ahs had a really bad treatment off the british media and is actually a really good top level manager

Haha mate, throw in the fact with who Mourinho's agent is and the fact he always brings in a few of his agents clients to his clubs then youd have a manager with a very close connection to basically the biggest agent in world football with a huge client list including some great potential targets

Mourinho announced - boom
Stones, Lukaku and Barkley all sign new 5 year deals - boom
Carvalho, Neves and James Rodrigues sign next day - boom, boom, boom!

yeah pure fantasy land ofc but whiles away some time ;p

The treatment of Pellegrini in the media is ridiculous. That side he had in 13/14 were one of the best in prem history and played wonderful football. They really were the best side that season despite the media demonising them for robbing their beloved reds and ruining 'the dream'.

Rodrigues and Osman on the same pitch... what a time to be alive!

In the end United might swerve Mourinho like we and others swerved Clough back in the day...just too mouthy/ wants his own way/ hot to handle

If we do get the chance I hope we take it this time.

I remember when the poster DAVIDMOYES told us when Moyes left that our next manager wouldn't be an internal appointment. Everyone was absolutely made up. Now there's some decent intel that Mourinho is at least talking to Everton and some aren't bothered. Everton that.

Moshiri seems to have moved us into a completely different bracket of conversation regarding the next manager than the one we were having when Moyes went.
