You've lost me a bit there mate. Basically...
This season's CL and EL winners qualify for next season's CL, no matter what. If both these competitions are won by English teams outside this season's top 4, then only 1st 2nd and 3rd in the league will get CL entry as there is a maximum of 5 teams from any one country allowed.

If only City OR Liverpool win their European competition this season, then top 4 in this season's league are guaranteed CL football next season
basically yes. at least i think so!

It will be losing points from winning positions that will be his demise. We've lost less games than Southampton, Stoke and Chelsea and only one more than Utd and RS. The draws are the killer.
Edit. And obvious the defeats particular W.Ham.

I may be wrong but all that's changed is an extra place the from the EL. CL qualification hasn't changed and only 4 teams can qualify.

So LFC & City win and finish 5th and 6th then 4th misses out. If just City win then 4th misses out as we don't get the 5th place as we haven't won the EL. City aren't dropping out of the top 4 anyway so it's all irrelevant.

How many of those draws do you think we deserved to win

If City win CL and finish outside top 4, then England will have 5 teams in CL next season. City (as CL holders) and this season's top 4.

But if Liverpool (God forbid) ALSO win EL, they get a CL spot, and 4th in league go into EL

Let's be brutally honest - and I could start another thread on this - but this is (probably) our best XI

Robles
Coleman Jags Stones Baines
Barry Macca
Lennon Barks Cleverley*
Romelu

* you might say Mirallas but I'd say not really based on how he's been performing this season.

so my point is this... how many of those eleven footballers are better today, 2016, than they were last year?

Robles - an upgrade on current Howard - fighting to make the number 1 spot his own
Barry - marginally
Lennon
Barks - at a push (but not right now)
Romelu - maybe (but not right now)

But definitely not the rest...

And then the simple question is - who's fault is it that only 1 or maybe 2 of the eleven are better than they were 12-18 months ago.

And then you tell me "well we've got a really good squad" and I counter it with "but hang on a minute we've got a team that can't or won't defend a lead properly, and is not encouraged to have a go further up the field" - If we defend properly we'll only concede 0, 1 or 2 goals every game so as long as we give it a right good go at the other end with the talent we've got we'll score 1 or 2 (or more) most of the time. So you do the maths.. a good side should be winning more than it loses.
