If he has any sense (I know), he'll pack the defence and midfield and just pray for a 0-0 on Wednesday. He wasn't above doing it away at City, although he does seem strangely averse to tightening up when it actually matters (Kiev).

He cannot, under any circumstances, allow the team to go into the semi on the back of an absolute mauling.

That's guna happen. They're in form we're not 16-0 to liverpool.

Behave, there can be no way on Fullers Earth that he's safe till at least Christmas, no way.

I'd go so far as to suggest that if that were to be the case, there might be a substantial drop off in ST sales.

In the pre-Premiership days and going back as long as I can remember, Evertonians were not averse to showing their discontent by occasionally voting with their feet and not attending games. I'm not saying that was a correct course of action, but blind faith is also not correct as it can lead to/breed a degree of complacency within a club.

The fan base being invigorated to buy STs', merchandise, away game tickets etc comes from positivity both on and off the field, and tangible progress in both results and style of performance... elements currently lacking from the persona of Everton FC.

Now voting with our feet would not impact financially next season thanks to the monster tv revenue streams, but I doubt Mr.Moshiri and his management team would relish chunks of empty seats every game at GP.

Thats certainly an argument, I'm simply basing my opinion on the fact that Mr Moshiri might want longer than the next few weeks took make a judgement and subsequently a decision. Obviously a successful team can entice more punters through the gate but I don't think that these days it is as much a measure of discontent as it was, even in the well remembered days of cushion throwing. Mr Moshiri has been at Arsenal for some time, and during that time, the manager has not changed despite periods of under achievement (thats relative, of course, one clubs under achievement is another clubs greatest days) I know that our new 'owner' was probably only a minor contributor to the decision making at Arsenal, but I suspect that he is not one to change managers(or even CEOs?) without a great deal of thought. He may well want to give Martinez at least a chance, especially while BK is in ear.

The above is my thought on what I think will happen, and not my opinion of Martinez as a manager. For what its worth, I think he is potentially a very good manager who has lost his way due to his own inability to change or even just tweak his philosophy. His aims are high and ambitious, but he needs to accept that the best managers are able to change their game plan without apology if they are to survive. He has become the 'nerd' of Prem managers....all theory and no effort, toughness or passion. Football is not played on a whiteboard or a computer screen, but on a real pitch against real, top class, unforgiving players. I was originally very much in the Davek camp, but I think that a change would probably be the best for Everton at the end of the season. I still have doubts that it will happen, though.

But Steve, Moshiri nor Usmanov had no control over Wenger's employment - Kroenke was and still is perfectly happy for Wenger to come in on budget regardless of what happens on the pitch. This is an entirely different situation, and Martinez is no Wenger.

That's why moshiri left if I'm right because he had no say in anything and usmanov is still there but getting fed up with kroenke that's why Arsenal fans are singing for kroenke to go because of wenger and usmanov moshiri will do whatever it takes to get Everton successful again I reckon

Last two seasons

2014/15 : 11th place, 47 points, 13 points behind 7th
2015/16 : Currently 11th place, 41 points, 10 points behind 7th with 5 games to go.

I mention how many points behind 7th, because 7th is the lowest place you can be in to have a chance of qualifying for Europe based on your league position. If I was in charge, that wouldn't fill me with confidence that Martinez is the man to push on for Champions League qualification after an injection of cash. If he was within touching distance of 7th on points, it'd be a different story.

The brutal reality is that after one very good season, he's not shown anything to suggest that he's the man to break the glass ceiling. As fans, our expectations are probably too high and we think we should be pushing for Champions League with this squad, but more pragmatic minds will be looking how far off 7th we are, scratching their heads a bit and preparing for a change.

Very much this. Anyone comparing the board room situation at EFC to Arsenal are comparing apples and pears.

Its one of the reasons he's come to EFC.

Not really. Merely an opinion that winning the cup and beating the RS would be difficult, but would convince the decision makers ,thats the board and Moshiri, to stick with Martinez, IF there is any doubt about that anyway. I think he's safe until at least Christmas and the start to next season, and comings and goings in the summer are whats important.
This post concerns me, not just because of what was written, but because of who wrote it. Reason being, in the few years I've been a member of this forum (and forgive me if I'm way off the mark here Steve), I've noticed that you've shown an unwavering and constant support of the Board, and especially Kenwright, so much so that I've often assumed you know Kenwright on a personal level. Also I only ever seem to notice you post when Kenwright and the Board are concerned.

So usually if someone had posted "I think he's safe until at least next Christmas", I'd have just thought "yeah whatever mate", but as it's you stating this, I actually give that statement more veracity. Which I find worrying.

Which is a fatal flaw. His press utterings suggest he doesn't have any awareness of it either. Or he's a very talented BS talker and is desperately clinging on to the best job and paycheque he'll ever get.

I think you sum up a lot of my position too. I admire Davek and his principles and in spirit I am with him (and have defended Martinez significantly and am yet to call for him to be sacked) however it has come to the point where I would not be overly concerned if he went.

I think you are right to say he has lost his way. The problem is I think the rot is now quite deep and I'm unsure if Martinez really knows how to get it back. We are in a mess and I am not sure if Martinez is strong willed enough to do what is necessary to turn it around. For whatever you say about Moyes, he knew how to push through his will when necessary, and also knew when pragmatism was needed to pre-empt a slide into where we are currently. I don't think Martinez is very "streetwise" in that way.

I think emergence of Moshiri is massive too. Before he came, lets be honest we'd have been looking at the Eddie Howe's of this world. Suddenly people are talking a level above that. We are yet to see if Moshiri will match that ambition but I have a suspicion he will. Frankly any of the names mentioned would be a cut above Martinez whereas Eddie Howe would be a similar manager, (young, unproven but may become a gem).

We're not even good to watch anymore. I mean, theres no reason to even watch us anymore for a neutral. We don't score.
I wasn't at the match due to work commitments but I chose to watch other matches for the first half, and couldn't be arsed with most of the palace game too. We are true S on a stick to watch
