I was a youngster when Mike Walker was doing his damage - so I don't really recall how poisonous the atmosphere was. But I guess he started the precipitous decline that culminated in Walter Smith's tenure... And I honestly don't think he was as unpopular as Martinez has now become.
Younger fans might find this hard to believe but the atmosphere in goodison was electric while we were bottom of the league. The supporters have always appreciated players who are willing to fight for the shirt. My biggest problem with the current team is the total lack of heart.and the fitness levels of the players is a disgrace

Not a wind up or a kopite.
Mr Moshiri only needs to look at this 4 minute video if he can sit through it.
Get a top Manager. Players behind him and playing for him.
Fans see a vision and 100% commitment.
And we have Everton.

Turn away now...

Just as much of a cringe fest as a Martinez press conference. Not really sure that video makes any point other than to reiterate what a shower of [Poor language removed] they are.

I don't Want them to beat us, I think they will beat us.

Mainly based on losing 3 games in a row then looking poor against the next three teams, two of which are miles apart from the first set of three.

Not really a hard conclusion to make but proving me wrong on that front would be a fantastic indicator to the game thst matters a few days later that we aren't going there without a hope

Based on our away form statistically we'd be unlikely to get beaten surely?

Oh I hope it is plausible. I'm not 100% convinced on Mourinho, but if we're aiming for someone of his calibre then fantastic.

I'd like to think we would aim high for a manager but realistically Mourinho only goes to top CL teams, not teams that finish around mid table. He rarely goes outside the top 2/3.

Here's the recording of my earlier call on 5 Live. Just a couple of things - it's extremely difficult to keep the conversation going in the direction you want rather than where they want to take it, and if you try to interject then they close down you microphone as happened this evening at one point.

Having said that, objective achieved, 8 minutes of talking about Martinez must go, Moyes being unsuitable and we should set our targets high helps get the message across.
Just listened to this. Nice 1. When you mentioned Koeman as an option, or as an example of the type we could go for. 'Fletch' said "after what Koeman has achieved he's elavated himself to potentially a Barca level"(or words to that effect). No doubting he was a very good player. And whatever he did to get the Southampton job fair play
But what precisely has Koeman achieved at Southampton in the Premier League?. He did a great job last season after they sold a lot of players in the summer. He's, to an extent, continued on in the same vein this year. Hats off and all that. But does that mean he's elevated himself beyond the Everton Manager position and is now a Barca target? I don't think so. 'Fletch' talking tosh I'd say.
Maybe Jose is beyond us, but there's got to be a few candidates willing to look at us as an option. If nothing else, money talks and the Premier League is a draw to ambitious managers. There's someone out there (not Moyes hopefully).

A really good listen on two fronts

1. You represented the sane, reasonable and considered opinion of a disgruntled Evertonian to counteract the action of one idiot at Goodison this afternoon that regrettably will get far more media coverage tomorrow.

2. It stands to show us what we're up against. It's almost institutionalised in the English game how patronised we are. It's utter nonsense that they seemed to set up a is Everton bigger than Southampton debate in amongst that. The media focus has become so narrow that over a hundred years of football is summed up by looking at the last two years.

Good post....just previously somebody was praising the numpty who ran on the pitch almost as if he represented normal Evertonians.

I've seen more low key reactions from World Cup winners.

Oh cone on mate. I never ever want to see Liverpool fans used as a benchmark. Except for when being told how 'not' to act when abroad.

Makes you laugh how much the guy contradicts himself.
So he says that mourinho and pellegrini are out of our depth too big to manage a club like Everton fair enough I'm thinking whilst listening
He then goes on to say that Koeman based on what he's done at Southampton could be the next Barcelona manager.
So if he's solely basing it like that then pellegrini and mourinho will be taking steps down from the (big) clubs going forward.
This would be a fantastic opportunity for managers like mourinho or Pellegrini
A club with a great first team, fantastic youth set up and probably a fair amount of money to spend.
On top of that they'd probably get a great contract plus I would imagine most importantly to them the opportunity to repair their reputations.
