As an aside to my point 2 above, has anyone noticed how history has been written out of the language of PL coverage since manure overtook liverfools record?

Back when Chelsea first won the title under Jose all the media coverage was first time in x years etc, now Leicesters title charge hasn't been greeted with any chat about never winning a top flight title before, instead the focus is just the last couple of years - look at Leicester, relegation candidates 12 months ago now challenging for the title..

Perhaps the PL had to change focus because teams like Man City and Chelsea became the dominant forces in the league.

Here's the recording of my earlier call on 5 Live. Just a couple of things - it's extremely difficult to keep the conversation going in the direction you want rather than where they want to take it, and if you try to interject then they close down you microphone as happened this evening at one point.

Having said that, objective achieved, 8 minutes of talking about Martinez must go, Moyes being unsuitable and we should set our targets high helps get the message across.

I couldn't keep my cool with them belittling us like that, fare play esk, your as reasonable off-the-cuff as you are I'm your posts.

That's quite poor, no one is forcing them. That belittles the efforts of those who scrape together the funds to support the team.

Poor showing.

Not at all. We all make our own decision about whether we attend or not and how that fits in with our prioroties. The OP was trying to use the majority to back up his own misguided point.

Slightly boozed up comment coming up- grammatical mistakes likely...

I have definitely been pro Martinez - and he did without a doubt freshen up the club in his first season, had us playing some lovelystuff, persuaded Lukaku to come on board and even recorded a good luck wedding video for my wife (which I might have to delete if this carries on)

However

He has made some glaring errors for me on and off the pitch which has lost him the fans and I think...the players.

. A high percentage of genuinely shocking transfers - kone,Alcaraz, mcgeady, traore, atsu, etoo and others that haven't really kicked on - cleverly,Besic,McCarthy
. Terrible pre seasons
. What seems from the outside a mishandling of pros coming to the end of their career (distin, pienaar,Baines) which whilst he might be right in some cases to be stern can't have had a positive impact on a squad which in some parts had been together a while.
. This season especially he seems to have lost the plot tactics wise...the West Ham game was the straw that broke the camels back for me - absolutely hideous - but by far the only glaring tactical decisions he has got painfully wrong.
. Post match pressers - I think he should just stop speaking - I appreciate English is his second language but he needs to stop making no sense at all . From Paul Merson to the fans - people are taking the piss. Imagine what the players must think. I hate seeing our club being turned into a joke on national TV - but FairPlay Paul Merson spoke total sense with his men in black comments.
. Niasse - what the hell!?!? 13m on a player who he then doesn't play at all. And if it's true that he has been awful in training then why bring him on in that fateful West Ham game? Again the players would be in their right mind to question wtf the manager is doing. It's a special kind of manager than can get rid of Steven Naismith for a mind boggling 8 million - and then reinvest that money...and the rest...on Oumar Niasse.

Having said all that - the players have been dreadful as well. Baines was right when he said we have no chemistry at all - for all their faults Lukaku and Barkley have carried us this season - and when they aren't on point we look bang average...at best.

The last 3 games have been dire...I have watched them all,but my heart hasn't been in it - and I haven't felt that for a long time.

But let's end on a positive before I go back to my beer. It's a semi final week with a merseyside Derby as a pre cursor - if the players can't be up for that then they shouldn't be in the game. Typical Everton that we win both games this week. Let's hope we do, win the final and take stock in the summer.

For me...as a staunch Martinez fan...he has to go...and I Hope he does. He has lost me now and I don't see how he turns the whole mess around.

Coyb lets get to a final and end the Derby voodoo. Now where's my pint...

He got us there. It's pretty simple.

If you're saying the manager of the football team hasn't earned the semi final, the burden of explanation is yours to bear, not mine.

Look, I understand the desire for black and white thinking on Martinez. That's how football fans think, in the main.

But there's nothing wrong with assessing the situation with a cool head.

Changing the manager right now, this week, won't help us win the semi. It'd also make us look like vindictive berks.

The summer is when we put our house in order.
Allen please go and give your head wobble! We will have less chance of winning any match from now until the end of the season while he's in charge! "He got us there" and that's your grounds for wanting to keep him? An FA cup semi final is not an achievement at all, especially not for a club like ours that should be minimum requirements each season. He's also got us in the bottom half of the table so he should be allowed to continue next season? as you say "he got us there"

The people who shell out in any way to support the club, the ones who take their kids because they're bitten by the bug we all have, the ones who have the club as their only 'escape'? Of course people prioritise. Football is ridiculous. It stopped being a sport a long time since. It isn't logical to follow any football club, let alone one like ours that has history of sporadic highs amongst the many lows recently, especially in my lifetime. So these supporters who aren't forced to go, why do they do it? Andy what would be the absolute point of it all if they decided to just...stop?

They should be respected and appreciated not shrugged off. Sorry but my point still stands, the day we dismiss the efforts of other Evertonians, well...

No one forces them to go, but thank god they do.

Sure, extrapolate some silliness from my point of view if you wish.

The fact is he won't be gone until summer.
