I see both sides here but it'd be folly to put all our eggs in the cup basket.

I want us to win the cup no doubt about it, but it won't magically transform Martinez into a good league (and overall) manager.

All true. And I don't think anyone is saying that winning the cup will make the manager better, or even keep him in a job.

But the cup is important in general. It's the most prestigious domestic cup going. Heck, in our position I think most would take a league cup win.

Even my Bolton supporting mate, obviously gutted about going down and being crap, is positive about getting a go at the Johnstones Paint!!!!

Jesus, the Moyes and Martinez comparisons are tedious, but how anyone can argue that Martinez has improved the psyche of players or fans for the better is totally beyond me. The players have no confidence, the fans have no confidence and are approaching a semifinal with trepidation. Compare that to our semi in 2009 or even 2012. The club's 'psyche' is in a far worse state than it was in either of those previous semifinals.

Chat up lines about our club's now ancient history are all well and good, but they mean sod all when you are struggling to assemble 40 points by the middle of April.

I loved going to Wembley for the Simod Cup Final circa 1991 ;)

A Cup Final is a Cup Final no matter what.
